Removing Cigarette Odors from Upholstery

I purchased an absolutely adorable child sized rocking chair for my daughter for Christmas. The only problem is the person I purchased it from smokes (didn't know this until I got the chair home). The upholstery fabric smells awful. I really like the fabric and don't want to reupholster the chair. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to removed the cigarette odor from the fabric?

What can I do next?

B.,

Just go and rent a shampooer and shampoo it. After it drys, put Febreeze on it and it should be smelling really good. :)

hello,

I use to smoke and when i quit i wanted my car to not smell like smoke. I found this stuff and it works great.
It is also good on stains or just when you want to freshen up your upholstery. I use it now when i clean my car to get up stains from spills me or my daughter make.

It is a car cleaner by Turtle Wax called POWER OUT! -upholstery cleaner . it contains order eliminating formula with ODOR-X.

I get it at Auto Zone. and its about $4-5 dollars. I'm telling you it works great....I swear by it. and unlike fabreeze it takes the odor out and doesn't cover it up with another odor.

try it....I think you'll like it.
good luck,
S.

P.s. there is another cleaner that is right next to this one call TUFF STUFF ; also an upholstery cleaner and it is cheaper....DONT GET IT...ITS STINKS AND DOESNT WORK AS GOOD.

Febreze works really well, and on sunny breezy days, set the chair outside, this is what I did to get rid of the stinky smell. Good luck!

You need to get a floor-shampooer with the attachments. Fabuloso is a good thing to add to the treatment. You will have to do this at least 2 to 3 times but it will work.

I use board spectrum or oszium i can oder these for you and have them shipped asap. I order all my house hold stuff on line through a replenishing odering system every month it is so conveniant for me since I dont like walmart or target there lines are nuts. Hospitals use the board spectrum and oszium

I know Fabreeze works great on weird odors...but I would try cleanning it first. My carpet cleanner has a hose attachment (which most do), specifically for upholstry.

Good luck!

Hey B.!

There is some stuff called OdoBan. I'm honestly not quite sure where to get it (check online and there is probably a million places). My parents have always fried their food....EVERYTHING! The whole house and everyone's clothing, furniture, luggage everything reeks. When my hubby and I visit we wear clothes we don't care much about and put in a garbage bag to launder when we get home. (We live out of the area.) ANYWAY! Right after I was married, I EXPLICITLY told my mother NOT to bring my wedding dress in to her house and lo and behold, she did anyway. My dress bag and dress smelled of fried food. I was livid! Then we went to a friend's house and she had me spray some OdoBan on the dress bag and hang both outside (it was nice and breezy) and the smell completely disappeared! This stuff works!! But also Febreze is very good! I also, believe it or not, have used Fabric Softener sheets. I would lay them all over the the chair, under the cushion, etc. and still set the chair outside on a good breezy day either after using the OdoBan, the Febreze or the softener sheets. GOOD LUCK!!!
