I'm 25 and going on my 3 child. I had severe morning sickness with my first 2 and I now have it again only it's not as bad this time around. The only thing is, is that with this child I work 10 hr shifts in a factory as with my other 2 kids I had part time jobs. Even though the morning sickness is mild I still have a hard time getting through the work day. Does anyone have any remedies that have worked for them cause I've yet to find one.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

First of all thanks to everyone for your advice. I think I might have the morning sickness under control for the most part. I tried chewing on mint gum while I was at work or just trying to keep some kind of candy around. I also started taking my prenatal vit. befor I went to bed and that seems to help a lot so thanks again everyon.

Believe it or not but Dill Pickles worked with my last pregnancy. It was a life saver. I lived off of the pickles and juice.

A co worker of mine had the same issue while she was pregnant and finally found some thing called Preggy Pops, which are suckers, and she said they worked wonders. You can do an internet search of Preggy Pops or Pregnancy Pops and you will have no trouble finding them. They are about 10 dollars a bag.

I had a problem with ginger lowering my blood sugar while pregnant, so you might need to be careful if adding that.

The thing that worked for me was digestive enzymes, taken twice a day on an empty stomach. I preferred Vitalzym. Suggested dosage was 3 capsules once a day. I took 3 capsules twice a day and never had a problem with morning sickness after I started them. I originally started to take them to help avoid miscarriage (they help the placenta) but that was a great added benefit.

Best to you and Congratulations!

I had morning sickness 7 out of the 7 months that I was pregnant (my daughter was a premie- you can't tell it now but thats a different story) My doctor gave me a low dose of anti-vert and something like phenosomethingorother that was used to help me quit throwing up (I actually lost 20 lbs from not being able to keep anything in) I also lived off of mentos- the mint ones, not the fruit ones) chewing any sort of spearment gum also helped, something about the gum keeping my mouth moist? I still use the spearment gum trick when I have an upset stomach. hope it gets better and doesn't last your whole pregnancy like mine did! the good news is if it does- it stops when you deliver! :)

Ok now I know this sounds weird but Sea Bands worked for me. They are bracelets that are used for motion sickness. I thought it was a bunch of bull when my best friend told me to use them but my gosh when I put them on in the right spot(direction will tell you where to put them on your wrist) All my morning sickness went away, but if I took them off it came back. You can find them in most pharmacies.

Someone told me exercise helped them. Working 10 hour shifts is really hard anyway, but maybe taking a walk around the building at breaks instead of sitting in the breakroom would help a little. It may be a little annoying (I would get cramps and feel completely exhausted by the time I would get home from my walks), but sometimes things work for some people and not others. At least the exhaustion kept my mind off the nausea.

With my first pregnancy, I always had a snack on hand (granola bar, crackers, fruit snacks) and that helped curb it a little. With my second pregnancy, I ended up sleeping as much as I could, but that's the difference between working part-time and working full-time. I actually had it worse with the second, though, when I was only working part-time.

Hello M.,

Cheerios worked wonderfully for me in my two pregnancies. Morning sickness usually happened to me before I got up, so I had about a tbsp before stand up (dry no milk). Wherever I went, I had my Cheerios handy because it happened several times during the day. For some moms unsweetened cereal work better...for me...sweetened Cheerios or any sweetened cereal.
Good Luck!

homeopathic sulphur helped me soooo much this last pregnancy. I also had a lot of motion sickness so anytime I was going to be in the car I would take Hylands Motion Sickness remedy. They were both life-savers!

I also switched my prenatal to Rainbow Light Complete, a food-based prenatal. You take six a day which means smaller doses of vitamins and minerals flooding your system at once, much gentler on your tummy. I just two, 3x/day.

Hey there! I am 36, married, mother of six. One remedy for morning sickness that I learned when pregnant with my fifth child is to take 25-50mg of vitamin B6 a day. This worked wonders for me. One day I was so,so sick I had to take the day off and could not even get off the couch (not throwing up just nausea all day). My 30 year experienced Midwife told me about the B6.
Once it got in my system I felt completely better by the next morning and had so much more energy. I continued taking it for the duration of the first trimester and was hardly ever sick again. I hope this can work for you. Check with your doctor first though to make sure this is something he/she would recommend.

I am just now getting out of that. I am pregnant with my third child and had that my first three months. The one thing that really helped me was to eat small wholesome snacks. I went to walmart and bought pb crackers. I would eat about two to three every hour to two hours and I kept lots of water by me. Keeping something on my belly really worked for me... and Sweets just made it worse. Good luck hun. I am not getting into my second trimester and its finally settled down.

You might try taking your prenatals with food, at dinnertime. Also, tea usually helps. Chamomile is good for just about everything. I don't have any other suggestions that someone else hasn't already said. Good luck! :)

You may want to talk to your doctor about the Rx Zofran. They gave it to me when I was pregnant. I was so sick all the time so I had to be on home IV meds for 12 hours a day for six of the 9 months because I couldn't keep anything down.
Once it wasn't so bad and I went back to work they gave me the Zofran because it helps with nausea and vomiting but doesn't make you sleepy like phenergan or other nausea meds do. Without that I couldn't have went back to work!

old fashioned ginger candy is supposed to help. or i read that you can grate fresh ginger root and boil it in 2 cups of water to make a tea...just strain it, then sweeten to taste. also keep some crackers by your bed and eat a few before you even get out of bed. i also took my prenatals at night before bed, because they upset my tummy when i took them in the mornings. i've also heard that you can get an Rx for phenargen that comes in gel that you rub on your wrists.

Have you tried taking your prenatal vitamin later in the day? I had real bad morning sickness with my first child until I moved my pill time later in the day. As long as you're taking it every day, it really doesn't matter what time you take it. Also, tums, saltines and Sprite were lifesavers to settle my stomach.

Hey! i know where you're coming from! I have two children and with my first i had morning sickness for three months until i tried a lemon water flush. Have a glass of lemon water for breakfast emediatly followed by a regular glass of water. Two hours after that have another glass of lemon water followed by a regular glass of water( do not eat during this entire process). two hours after that have just a plain glass of water and a half hour after eat lunch. TRY IT IT WORKS!

Oyster crackers are good for easing the woozy feeling associated with morning sickness. Try to eat several little snack sized meals instead of 3 big ones. Drink 8 to 10 twelve ounce glasses of water per day. Try to stay away from things that are to spicy or to heavy especially before you lay down. And if you think your prenatal vitamin might have something to do with it then try taking it before you go to sleep. But also keep in mind that it won't last forever...usually after like the 3rd or 4th month it's gone.

Hi, there is a medicine that your doctor can give you for the morning sickness. I had my doctor give me something that I could take while being at work b/c I was so sick. Luckly this pregnancy I wasn't nearly as sick with my first 2. This time it has been smooth sailing, Thank God!!!! Good Luck!!!! Oh and peppermint will also help.
