Reluctantly Seeking Therapist Recommendations

My sister has been medicated for quite a few years for depression (seems to run in the family - nature/nurture - who knows?). She has been having a rough time lately and has said that she will likely seek more pharma assistance. That is her decision to make, but she is also reluctantly willing to look into some therapy. Ladies, I need a terrific therapist recommendation - she will quickly abandon anyone who isn't up to the task of getting through some of this stuff - results are expected, not a long term (over 1 year) relationship with a therapist. So tell me who you think is fabulous and, with as much detail as you are comfortable giving, please tell me why you love this therapist - have to ensure a good match here - I probably only have one shot at getting her to talk with someone to root out some of the issues that cause this cycle to continue for her. Thanks in advance!

A.,
Hey there - hope you are having a good day with your 2 boys (yikes!!) I don't know of a counselor to recommend - although I would highly suggest finding a Social Worker. I used counseling for serious (suicidal)depression (a learned behavior). I can't speak highly enough of the experience - I honestly would not be here had I not gone to counseling. I spent nearly 2 years total with my counselor. Please feel free to share this info w/ your sister...she has so much to gain for herself!! And for you - keep up the good work! I never would have started counseling if it hadn't been for my husband's gentle pushes. You are doing so much good for your sister - just be gentle and patient. If she is depressed she probably isn't thinking she is worth the effort/trouble/expense of counseling. Just remind her how loved and valued she is. Good luck to you both!

Dr. Jessica Lippman. She's in the Streeterville area (600 N McClurg, has very good office hours, and will do her best to accomodate schedules. She will dedicate herself to helping and, if she thinks another Dr. might specialize more closely to the issue, she will help make that transition. I can't reccomend her highly enough.
