Good Morning Moms, looking for some help finding a moving company. I am moving from Tampa, FL, to Fort Collins, CO, this summer and I was wondering if anyone knew of a moving company that they have used to move from state to state that they would highly recommend. This has happened pretty fast and I actually only have less then a month to hire someone so I was hoping to get some recommendations rather then going online and randomly looking for someone. I also need to transport a car so any recommendations on a car transporter company would help. Thanks in advance. A.

What can I do next?

Hi. Last summer we moved from CA to FL. We used NorthAmerican. They were ok. I was not impressed with the local packing team in CA. The driver and folks who moved our stuff worked very slowly on both ends. Our friends who moved from CA to FL last year used Bekins. They were very pleased from what I remember. The only reason we did not use them is because they could not guarantee that our stuff would be available the day we closed on our house. This was due to the size of our load. If we wanted to pay an extra $1000 to move our load up a level then we could have a better delivery window. It sounds like this should not be an issue for you. Also, when we moved to CA 4 years ago we used Allied Van Lines. Was pleased with their service except for a few minor injuries to our furniture, which they fixed or replaced.

Hope the information helps.

Two Men and a Truck I think is one of the best moving companies in the country. I have only heard very good reviews of them and their prices tend to be reasonable.

When we moved from Wisconsin to here we rented a big UHaul and added a tow trailer for our car. It works and it VERY reasonable, but I wouldn't do that if you are by yourself. We had the kids stay in Florida with my Mom while my husband and I drove the truck. It was a long haul and tough, and I don't think Wisconsin to Florida is as far as Florida to Colorado. So while it is cheap don't forget to work in 1) the cost of gas 2) the cost of hotels 3) the cost of food. Because when you add all of that together, especially with the price of gas a moving company may actually be cheaper or close to the same.

My Mom also once told me that some companies will move multiple people on the same truck, and it is much more affordable that way. But she did that over 30 years ago, so I don't know who does that, but you may want to see if any moving companies offer something like that.

Good luck with your move! Hope you enjoy Colorado!!

I haven't moved from state to state, but my in-laws have. They used pods. It was cheaper than hiring movers. You just have to pack it up yourself. You may be able to get one big enough for the furniture & the car. You just need to pack it yourself, or hire someone to pack it for you.

There is a moving company that is based out of florida and they go from state to state-you can visit their website at www.landlift.com and I think you can request a quote from them. I have heard lots of great things about them. You can check them out if you like. Good luck.

Put an ad in the paper. There are a lot of private truck drivers looking for work now and would give you a better rate than a moving company. Also a private driver is more careful with your stuff. My cousin used to haul hay to Florida and then on his trips back he would move people to where they were going. It worked out great for them and him. He is 78 and doesn't drive a truck any longer but I am sure there are a lot of them out there that would love the job. I have heard horror stories from friends that used moving services. A private driver is the way I would go. Good Luck!

Have family who would love a moving project. I am living in Tampa myself with two children.

Look into Greeneville Moving & Storage ###-###-####.
