I am looking to enroll my 4 and 2 year old's in day care, I am really impressed with both La Petite on Basswood in Fort Worth and Primrose in Keller on Heritage Trace, I am having a hard time choosing. Does anyone have any helpful information on either of these centers that would facilitate my decision making? I am prioritizing in this form 1-Academics and Learning 2-Teacher's personalities 3-child ratio

Thanks!

As a teacher that gets kids from both places, I would definitely go with Primrose--they always come to school more prepared (academically and behaviorally) than those from La Petite on Basswood.

I would go Primrose hands down. I worked for Primrose on Mid-cities in Hurst. I really like the way they do things. I've worked in child care for about 7 years and if I had to put a child in child care center in this area I would do Primrose or Premier Academy. I would also look at the states website and read there inspection reports. The website is www.dfps.state.tx.us. Then go to child care licensing and click texas child care, then put your zip. Hope this information helps you, Good luck!

Hello C.,

I use to work for La Petite before I hade my girls and the structure was terrible. I could not go and add on to the lesson plans that they hand out everyday. All of it came from corprate head quaters and I had to stick with what they wrote for the teachers. I was usually done in a couple of minutes cause it was very short. The teachers were basically paid to just babysit the kids.
When I went to look at Primrose(Wellington) for my girls. I really didnt care for them. They reminded of La Petite and I didnt want to put my girls in that kind of environment. I do hear good things about Primrose though. Everyone seems to be different cause I hear good things about another one in the area that is great so it all depends on the teachers and ratio of kids.

A coworker of mine looked at La Petite and Primrose, and was definitely NOT thrilled with La Petite. The teachers apparently just left a lot to be desired. I've heard many good things about Primrose.

Hi. I just enrolled my 3 year old daughter, Aiden in a pre-school about a week ago. I looked at ssooo many schools (some of which I didnt even bother going inside due to the outside looking a bit questionable) so I can totally relate to the overwhelming responsibility of finding the perfect place for your child to spend their entire day. I too made ciriculum and learning my top priority along with cleanliness and structure. I looked at the Primrose and La Petite Academy and quickly learned that while they may be great schools, they have a hefty price to go along with it. We chose to go a less costly route. Now, I dont know exactly the area that you are looking or if you are interested in Christian schools but here are a couple that I thought were exceptional. Calvary Cathedrial Christian School off of I35 (close to down town Ft. Worth) has an amazing school. They have a very nice and clean building with actual degreed teachers in the classroom. They use the Abeka ciriculum which I have personnally used and think extremely high of. Their weekly price is $125 for non-potty trained toddlers. It's less than that for potty-trained kiddo's. I know there is a waiting list for the 3 year old class so that is why we didnt go with that school. I chose Little People Academy over by White Settlement Rd. by General Dynamics. I have been so impressed with them. They've been in the business for over 30 years and have a very sturctured and clean enviorment. My daughter actually cries when I pick her up in the afternoon!! Over all I have learned that there are quite a few centers out there that are shall we say "less than perfect" and that just isnt good enough. So, I hope I have helped you and good luck in your search!!

I am sure this depends on where you live, since each facility will have different staff and directors.

But, the La Petite in Arlington on Green Oaks was AWFFUL.

My kids have enjoyed Primrose in Highland Village and I think they are top notch, but pricey.

My 3 year old daughter is currently at the Primrose Parkwood Hill- just off Basswood. She has been there since she was 1. We love it there. The owners are great and we haven't had any problems with any of the teachers. Mackenzie is very attached to all of them. I like their structure and academics. She already can write most of her letters and is working on putting the sounds together. The teacher in the 2 year old class is awesome from what I have heard. She is newer but all the parents I have talked to love her. I would recommend it.

I took my son to primrose near Keller off Davis Blvd. I think it's physically in Southlake though just outside the Hidden Lakes subdivision. While I liked the facility... I didn't care for the management and the way they treated their staff... the turnover in my son's class alone was just reprehensible. I think they went through 4 teachers in one year... and it wasn't because they wanted to leave either.
I actually pulled my son out of there just becasue I just didn't appreciate they way they treated their stafff -- at least in that class...

Hi, I've had all 3 of my son's in Primrose at one time or another. My 10 yr. old when he was 3 in Rockwall Primrose, my 5 yr. old when he was 1 in Mansfield Primrose, and my almost 2 yr. old currently in Mansfield Primrose. I must say that I've never had any issues with them. Education-wise, they are great. My 5 yr. old knew his abc's, colors, and shapes by the time he was 2, and my youngest is following in his footsteps. Also, they taught them manner stuff like pushing in their chairs, etc. Their vocabulary also increased. The teachers in the early preschool I (EPSI) are very nice and really seem to like the kids, and the ratio is 9 kids to 1 teacher, I think. All-in-all I think Primrose is great, and I don't know anything about La Petite. Hope this helps.
