It has been recommended that my son have his tonsils removed. They are so big they are touching one another (due to having strep throat right now).
Can you recommend a good doc? And suggest why you are recommending him/her? And lastly, facility where you had tonsils removed? I trust all doctors are doing that now laproscopically?

Please take their advice-I went through a bout with one of my adult children-strep throat, mono and tonsilitis and I thought I would lose my mind with worry-your little one, so young-get it done now-Blessings!
Dr. Michael Bryan in Southlake is great he did my son's and soon my daughter's. He is very conservative with surgery on kiddos, just a phenomenal ENT.

My son was 8 (now 12) when he had his out. Dr. Ewen Tseng did his at Baylor in Frisco. It is usually done as an outpatient procedure but because my son has asthma they kept him overnight to observe. Baylor Frisco doesnt have a childrens floor so we stayed on the womens. I would definately have Dr. Tseng do it again. Just to let you know we had my son's removed because they were constantly inflammed when Dr. Tseng took them out he said that they were the size of golf balls. He was recommended to us by my pediatricians nurse and he did a fantastic job.
How old is your child, most children's tonsils to mature until 4-5 and shouldnt be taken out before then? I would recommend an ENT and make sure they really need to come out. If he/she doesnt have numerous cases of Tonsilitis or strep then I might look into not taking them out.
If it is needed I would recommend a childrens surgical center instead of a hospital. Surgical Center has the same things a normal hospital out patient sugery area does but it is less scary, geared for kids and costs tons less.
