We will have some foreign friends from Asia over this weekend for dinner. This will be their first time visiting an American home, so I want to make this special for them and give them a truely good Texan or southern dinner. These friends are open to anything in terms of food. There will be a 2 year old boy coming too, but I was told he eats just about anything in front of him. I have recipes but aren't impressionable enough. Any great but easy-to-do recipes you would like to share?

What can I do next?

What about ribs, potato salad and beans? Or, you could do a chicken-fried steak, mashed potatoes with gravy and green beans. Or, a tex-mex meal of enchiladas. I could go on and on. I also can give you great tips and short-cuts if you need them. I'm a 5th generation Texan; so, these meals are just standard fare for us.

Good luck. Your friends are in for a wonderful treat and are lucky to have friends who want to do something so special for them.

I like the BBQ idea.

I'd probably do a great steak, mashed potatoes, and Texas Sheet Cake with Blue Bell Homemade Vanilla Ice Cream for dessert.

Or Chili and cornbread. Have fun!

You can't get much more Texas than Bar-b-que... But if it were me, I'd buy it from Rudy's and skip the trouble of making it.

You could make the sides: Corn (on the cob or creamed), potato salad, slaw, rolls, etc.

have fun!
