Recipe for Homemade Stain Spray?

I've been using Spray and Wash each time my baby gets poop on her clothes. It's not very cheap or natural. Does anyone have a recipe for something more environmentally friendly but still effective?

What can I do next?

I'm not sure how well this will work, but peroxide is good for a lot of things. Other than than, Simple Green is pretty good at getting stains out. There's also a product called StainzROut (I believe that's the proper spelling.) I don't know if you can find it in a store, but I know you can get it on line. Good luck! :+)

I have used dry dishwashing detergent and water in a big pot and I boil the clothing- I have gotten old set in spit up stains and poop stains- I would try to do it as soon as possible though- Good luck- it has worked well with actually dish washer dry soap but I have used liquid dish detergent also- make sure it is not with bleach or you will have some bleachy looking clothes.

I have a Home Day Care and am a Mommy of one 7 y/o son. Here's how I remove the stains from the Day Care laundry (bibs, rags, kids spare clothes or stained in my care) and our family laundry.

I use Tide Free liquid on all of our laundry. When I see a stain I use about a quarter of a cap of the detergent and pour it directly on the stain... fold up the item and sit it on my dryer until I'm ready to wash another cold or hot load (depends on color). When I go to wash the next load I throw in the stained item but only put 3/4 of a cap of detergent in the washer.

So... you get the stain out for free. This works on about 95 percent of the stains. It doesn't work for ink and marker stains.

I don't know a recipe, but I do know the sun will get out poop stains. Rinse with water and put the clothes out in the sun. It worked for me. My neighbor told me about it and it really does work.

I use Nature Bright from Shaklee. All their producta sre enviro-friendly. My husband has allergies and we don't use anything else in the house. I use an empty ice cream bucket and put in 1 scoop of Nature Bright (sometimes 2 if it is really bad), fill with water, and let it soak. I sometimes keep the bucket filled and add as the week goes on. I have soaked onsies and shirts for a week- it never hurts the fabirc, and I never had a problem with fading.

I use old fashioned Prell shampoo and rub it into the spot. I also use old fashioned Fels Naptha soap which you can find in the aisle where stain removers are found.

I use cloth diapers. To get the stains out I just wash and hang outside to dry in the sun. It is amazing how the stains just dissappear as they dry.

HI, Well I have three kids. two are grown and one passed away at two years old. I can tell you I have went through lots of stains, truth be told I love getting stains out. I love and use all natural products. I use all melalueca products ,it is very safe and better than anything out there to get things clean. Melalueca has the patent on TEA TREE OIL. Everything thing they have has tea tree oil in it. They have a pre-spot that is the best stain remover you will ever find you can use it on carpets, clothes just about anything. They have an entire line of cleaning products that are so safe if your child drank it ,it would not hurt them at all......You can't say that for store bought items. Call me if you are interested on how to get started on making your home safer for your children! ###-###-#### A. Hicks

Well this is not a recipe but it works wonders. When I first had my son whoe is now 9 months, she suggested using just his baby shampoo and what do you know it works wonders its amazing. It is the best stain remover and it doesn't irritate his clothes. I hope this works for you.

try the pretreater from OxyClean. I've used Shout for ears and friend turned me on to the oxyclean. It works quite well, but the key is to not rub the stain. I find that when I rub the stain before treating it it's harder to get it out. Rinse it under water (temp depend on the stain) and then follow the package directions.
