Does anyone know of any resources for summer tutoring programs (besides Sylvan). My son is oging into 6th grade and struggles harder each year. I want to give him a boost this summer.

What can I do next?

hi R., I just wanted to say, you are doing the right thing. This is C.'s mother who is a mommy on this list. ( I am the grandmother.) Yes, giving your son the time to learn this summer is just the thing. Also, evaluate the school teacher he will have next fall and make sure she /he knows what attention your boy needs. Hang in there. There is nothing we want more than to see our children smile and be at ease.

Hi R.,
What sort of tutoring are you looking for? My husband was an English teacher and did tutoring for kids your son's age when he was a PhD candidate back in California. He may be interested/ willing to take on a tutoring job this summer. We're in Gunbarrel.
Let me know!

Hi R.,

My husband and I are both elementary reading teachers and will be off for the summer. We are always looking for little side jobs to supplement our income. We charge $25 an hour and can meet as many times per week as you like.

Please call if you are interested in talking and or meeting.

My sister-in-law, Rachel Anderberg is going into graduate school soon to be a reading specialist. She has a lot of experience tutoring in reading. Her phone number is ###-###-####. Hope that helps!

Google on Orton Dyslexia Society. Its name has changed but it should still be searchable under its old name. Then, if his issues is reading, you can find a good reading tutor.

Good luck.
