My husband had a torn rotator cuff surgery. His was a 90% tear with also a muscle split from shoulder to elbow. pretty nasty. He went to castle orthopedics. Loved it. I want to say the doctor was Dr. Marciniak (probably spelled that wrong) but not positive as he also sees a doctor for his wrists carpel tunnel and another one for his back (he is an electrician so very heavy duty job) but his surgery was great. good luck

I don't have a good doctor to recommend, not even the one in CA that did my husbands in 2002. Definately do your research and look them up. It's not an easy surgery and the pain never goes away. My husband saw several people in physical therapy that were on their 2nd and 3rd surgeries. They took an MRI on my husbands about 1 1/2 years after the surgery and his shoulder looked worse than it did before the surgery and they wanted to operate again. He refusued and has been suffering ever since. There is a lot he can't due, and when he does he agrevates it and is in pain for weeks on end. Make sure he follows the doctors orders to a T and don't do any heavy lifting for a long time. I'm not sure what profession your hubby is in. Mine was a new construction plumber and it was the repetitive work that injured him. He's still in construction but now supervises the people that build homes. He couldn't go back to plumbing. He was lucky enough to get an opportunity as a warranty rep that helped him get were he is today. Good luck.

I don't know any doctors in your area, but my husband has had the surgery on BOTH of his shoulders. He has six screws in one shoulder and two in the other. He is still going through Physical Therapy for his 2nd shoulder. He was in PT for 4 months with the first and is in his 3rd month for his 2nd. I would definitely get a 2nd opinion, and do some research on the docs you are seeing. Hubby's surgeon is in a big practice and he does only shoulder surgeries in that practice.

My mom had a complete rotator cuff tear a few years ago and had a great experience with Dr. Steven Chudik of Hinsdale Orthopaedics. Good luck!
