Hello. I am searching for ideas for my daughter and her team to earn money. the team have done car washes, standing infront of Walmart. If you have done something like this before and found it worth it please share it with me. Yes I agree with the one response the I had about the standing infront of Walmart, and for the record we have never participated in this since I think that it's pan handling and dislike it. (gymnastics)
Thank you
C.

At work we do a lot of fundraisers and we get the most money from raffles. We get companies to donate items and we group 3 large prizes. (1st prize: ball game tickets and $100 dinner gift certificate value $300, the next package would be around $150, and 3rd around $50)

Sell tickets for $1 each or 6 for $5.

Avon has a great Fundraiser tool you can find a local rep at www.avon.com. Once you find a Rep near you they go go though all the details with you.

I was a cheerleader in high school and we did nothing BUT fundraising!! We did the basics and stood outside Walmart and Dunkin Donuts...we made very good money there. We also sold candy bars for $1 once in a while too! Car washes were a HUGE money maker! We also did bottle drives but I don't think you can get money for recycling over here. We made a deal with the local school and they donated 2.5 cents per soda can/bottle. Maybe talk to a local organization that will maybe match what you make?? I don't know who exactly, but if they get something in return for it, maybe they'll help out. Advertising or something? Maybe put their logo on your t-shirts?

We also held spaghetti suppers. I lived in a small town but all these really helped raise money. We had the parents cook foods and we posted signs all over, especially sent notes home with family and friends. And we had a fairly good turnout. Our football team attended our dinners and it costs everyone $5 or $10 a person. We also did raffle tickets at local events (football games or something) and tried raffling off things that were donated to us and we got to keep all the profit.

There are SO many things you can do!! I always hated standing outside Walmart begging for money as we called it, but it works out well. As long as the kids are polite, respectable, and aren't obnoxious....people don't care. EVERY SINGLE TIME I see a kid begging for money I have to give at least a dollar. Or any time a kid is fundraising...I feel obligated. I've been there done that and man oh man, I feel for them! :)

Fundraising isn't all that much fun, but the lessons learned from being in activities like that....well it kept me out of trouble and kept my head on straight! So hats off to you for coaching something like that :)

Hi C.,
we did yard sales and bake sales when my sister was in dance. We also had drawings for prizes people would donate. We would sell tickets from $5-10 depending on the prize. A good source for donations are all the parents of the group. Does anyone own a business or make something special? Hope this helps.

What kind of team is your daughter trying to earn money for? Car washes are a great fundraiser. No offense but in my opinion standing outside of walmart asking for donation is not really teaching the kids the right way to raise funds, that is just like a begger standing on the corner asking for food. But thats my opinion. You can always go to one of those websites where they sell suckers or candy bars. You could do a yard sale and have families donate things to it. http://www.hersheys.com/fundraising/products/candy-1dolla...

http://www.easy-fundraising-ideas.com/products/wholesale-
suckers-lollipop-fundraisers/ Things like that always raises good money.

Hi C.. I coordinate the fundraising for my daughters dance studio and I have some things that may be of advice. We do a fundraiser every fall that we use to benefit the kids, but you could use it for the team as well. Go to southernfundraising.com. We use their cookie dough fundraiser and my daughter raises about $300 profit herself every fall. Antoher fundraiser that we did was a candle fundraiser through Home Interiors. I have a friend who is a consultant with them and she put this one all together. Our profits were not as high, but the girls still did really good. The car washes I find are good for the kids and teach them to really work for their money, you may also want to try a bake sale. If I think of anything else I will let you know, but this is what we have found to work.

I have 2 girls that have been doing fundraisers for various teams in the past. We have found that one of the best ideas is to be a celebrity server. There are many restaurants that will let you come in and be the servers in a specific area of the restaurant and then you get to get all of the tips. We have done this 2 or 3 times and made good money. The girls also had a BLAST!!!

Hi C.,

I am an Independant Consultant with PartyLite & if you wanted to use some of our products (jar candles, votives and tealights, etc.) to do a fundraiser, I would be happy to help you out with that. Depending on the total sales, 15-25% of the total sales would go toward your fund of choice. It's something a bit different than a lot of the fundraisers & who doesn't love candles, right? ;)

Feel free to visit my website if you are not familiar with our products: www.partylite.biz/votiveconfidence.

Tealight-fully yours,
A. B.
