Rash on My FACE...HELP!!

You really shouldn't attempt to treat anything without knowing the cause of it. While most rashes are viral (can't do anything to treat a virus), some can be bacterial, related to allergies, related to contact with a pathogen, etc.

Your best bet is to see a dermatologist and at the very least your family practitioner. However, I'd always take a dermatologist for a skin-related issue as their residency/fellowship really trains them for being able to identify small differences in the appearance of rashes that can help determine the cause.

I agree with the first two responses. I would add some other tips from my experience with sensitive skin and various rashes and reactions:

-- whether bacterial or viral or allergic reaction, drink lots of water (it helps clear the system and keep anxiety at bay :))

-- After it is gone, continue to use a gentle, non fragranced cleanser -- like cetaphil or a generic brand, or just wash with water if you are not wearing make up. In addiiton, use a physical barrier sunblock when needed (one with titanium dioxide or zince oxide)...as these will not seep into the skin and cause further reactions.

-- Remember -- what comes, goes just as quickly. So don't worry. It will be gone soon.

I think it would depend on what is causing the rash? Have you seen a dermatologist about this? I would really get it checked out by a doctor to make sure of what you're dealing with first.

Dermatologists are in demand so if they set your appointment way out, tell them you have a "really ugly rash" on your face and could they possibly work you in. Maybe call several until you find one to work you in soon. Or ask the nurse if you can do something helpful in the meantime.

In the meantime, if it could be caused by an allergy, stop using anything you were using on your face. If you ate something unusual, don't eat it again. Take a benedryl and see if it goes down.

I don't know if this is good advice or not but on nurses's recommendation, we gave my child a bath in Dial soap (antibacterial) which was gentle enough but effective enough to eliminate her body rash caused by a virus.

Try a website called Dermnet.com It has all kinds of ugly pictures of rashes and skin conditions. It can probably help you identify what's going on - I would also seek help from a dermatologist. It could be so many things ranging from eczema to dermatitis to acne to a food allergy.

I agree with other posts - is kinda sounds like Rosacia but it's hard to tell without seeing it (and even then, for an untrained person we may not be able to tell). I would call the dermatologist. Or at the very least, see your regular family doctor and he can give you a referral and get you started in the right direction (some insurance plans still require this referral).

In the mean time, Cetaphil is a very non-irritating way to clean your face. I would use that for now.

If it looks like tiny pimples, but they don't behave like pimples (heal and get better), it may be Rozacea. I had it around the corner of my mouth and chin and it was awful. That said, only a dermatologist can diagnose it accurately, but if it is Rozacea, the have creams prescribed just for that. Get to the doc ASAP!
