Well my daughter does this "thing" with her sippy cups, she drinks and then spits it out and plays with it , well as i seen her doin it friday , i also seen she had a few bumps on her chin, used a&d and seem to be fine. Next day we were headed to the beach and it got worse the bumps. so used cream decided to keep her indoor pool so that the sunscreen/sun would'nt aggervate it. Well came home gave bath and put more on, seem to be clearing up,I used bagbalm last night. Then again to day its worse no bumps..just dry..red all down her chin....i was goin to leave it alone and see if it clears up. if not ALOT better tomorrow she is goin in to see the Doctor, startin to worry me.
Thanks guys!
BTW does not itch or bother her...no fever.

No she doesnt suck her thumb, its rough when i touch it, and im tryin to keep it dry but its not like spots, her whole chin is almost RED, im goin to get that cream i thank you guys for helping and offering suestions Helps alot :P I'll let you all know how it goes!

Stop using sippy cups and let her drink plain water. All the problems will subside. Children of 2 are too old for these kind of cups. They do not allow the child to bring their eyes in and converge properly to get ready for reading and writing not to mention the oral motor skills that children miss out on by using a spout for waaaayyy to long.

My 17 month old daughter has the same thing. She's had it about a month. The doctor said it was like eczema. He told me to put cortisone cream on three times the first day, two times the second day and one time the third day. That did take it away but then it came back. It is aggrivated with the heat. Now the doctor told me that since it's been so long that the cream could be making it worse. They said they could give me an antibiotic cream to put on it. I declined. Instead I am trying to keep it dry and run it's course. It seems to be best in the morning. It very frustrating.

Sneak in at night & put a layer of Aquaphor on it. That way it will have all night to work! :) Good luck!

It might be eczama. I have it on my hands.

It may be getting irritated by the heat. It's just a "drool rash". Just keep some aquafor on it and let it air out here and there and it should be fine.

I'm born & raised in South Florida and believe it or not, sometimes the salt water and sun actually HELP miscellanous rashes and whatnot. I don't know the science behind it (salt water is like an antiseptic and can help dry things out, i know) and the sun as well. When my daughter was little she got this random rash somtimes and a weekend at the beach usually helped clear it up. Since your daughter has no fever or itching, this may be an option.

You also might want to take away her sippy cup when she plays with it like that. It might be having the same effect as thumb sucking or a pacifier would in keeping the area on her chin too moist, therein causing the bumps.

Just some thoughts ... Best of luck to you!!!

Hi T.,
Make sure as well that you use a "non chemical" sunscreen so that the chin does not absorb any more chemicals. That means a sunscreen based on titanic dioxide or zinc oxide etc. Neutragena pure and free stick, california baby, blue lizard are good ones that come to mind.

May also be caused from drooling - does she suck her thumb? I have found lots of luck w/ Aquaphor too. Lather it on at night especially. Also, try not to let her "nurse" her sippy for too long. If she's not drinking, take it away.

My 10 month old son does this also (and he is teething), keep it dry and use aquafor. If that doesn't help them you might need somehting from the dr like Nystatin b/c it could be a fungal rash which my son had.
