Rash and Teething

My son used a pacifier and the moisture from drooling when he was teething got trapped behind it and caused a rash all around his mouth. I had to keep the area around his mouth as dry as I could. I also had to find a pacifier that was vented, not one solid piece. It worked for us, hope it does for you.
Something to soothe his gums - I took baby food bananas by baby spoonfuls and put them on wax paper in the freezer. After they harden, give them to the baby. Soothing and nutritious at the same time. Just make sure they aren't large enough for him to choke on.

We had neighbor with twins and this exact thing happened to them. They were allergic to their own saliva. The doctor suggest that they wear bibs or bandannas at all times to help protect their necks and chests. He also suggested the mother attempt to lightly pat their faces dry as often as possible with a damp wash cloth.

He also suggested that she try to have the girls sleep on pads that normally are used to absorb wetness for bed wetters. This also seemed to work.

It did not seem to bother the girls, but it drove the mother insane that they had that redness.. It passed after teething was over... Hang in there..

My kids did get rashes, but it seemed to corrolate with the amount of drule they produced. They would get it on their neck and chin and cheeks. I put a little cortozone cream on it and aquaphore lotion and they were fine. My kiddos all suffer from eczema, so I was used to dealing with itchy skin.

sometimes they drool alot while teething and that causes the rash...skin being wet all the time. even if you try to wipe it up alot its still can get rashy from the drooling.
