Hi again all! So, my 10 month old has some bumps, for lack of a better word, on her back and the side of her leg that just popped up within the last week or so. They aren't red or even pink in color, you can only feel it not see it. It doesn't seem to bother her, I think it bothers me more not knowing what it is. We are using a dye/fragrance free detergent, no changes in her soap since the day she was first bathed by us. I have used Aquaphor and Aveeno lotions but it doesn't help. Any thoughts? No history of eczema in our family and it isn't spreading just not clearing up.....any ideas? all the research I have done is not yielding any results similar to what this is.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

After sticking with one lotion (Aveeno) we have had success with the bumpy/rashy skin. Although it seems to clear up on her back then move to her arms we have found that a good slathering of lotion consistantly seems to do the job. Thanks again for all the input!

Hello!

It SOUNDS like eczema to me.....

if it's not eczema - are they little white pimples? Oh my son had this - it's a virus that they really can't do anything about.

Take her to the pediatrician and see what they say.

I have a 9 1/2 month old and she is getting the same exact thing. It is also on the side of her arms. Aquaphor didn't help me either. Recently I've been using the Aveeno Eczema Therapy cream (regular Aveeno didn't do anything) and it seems to be helping. I tried Mustela products and they didn't seem to make a difference for my daughter. Good luck and I completely feel your pain.

Our LO starting getting a little patch on her shoulder, lower back and a bigger one on her leg when it got really cold and dry here. We didn't change anything either - just cold, dry weather. Our Pedi recommended straight vaseline rather than lotion. I saw on Dr. Oz to use straight shea butter - the main focus being keeping the area moisturized. So are it hasn't gotten better but it hasn't gotten worse either. I'm just waiting for the warm weather to hit...

My son gets bumps after sitting for prolonged times in in carseat. Sweat combined with the material/chemicals in the seat tend to break him out.

Sounds like excema to me. My son gets like that when it's been really dry. We slather him up with either Aquaphor or a steroid cream we got from his doctor. Since the Aquaphor isn't working for her, it might be time for a steroid. They are safe, the amount of steroid they put in isn't very high. Plus, you only really need to use it until the bumps go away and then go back to Aquaphor. We have a huge tub we keep on hand and use it as needed.

Pay attention to the things your laying her on. Certain fabrics can cause rashes especially those fuzzy type blankets or maybe even the clothing your wearing or other people are wearing that hold her.

My daughter has eczema and there is no history in our family either. When it first appears you can only find it by touch - it turns red later. She never scratches at it unless it is where her pant waist band hits, or her sleeves - so in other words only if it is alreade being rubbed by clothing. Aquaphor was recommended to us by our Dr but never really worked that well. We use Vaseline and that seems to stop it in its tracks. If we miss a spot though and it itches her then we have to use Cortizone to get it to clear up. In your description it sounds exactly like my daughter's eczema. Try vaseline and see if it helps.

Could it be keritosis pilaris? If so, not much you can do--they usually outgrow it.
