I am looking to have a quilt made for my granddaughter and grandson. Does anyone know of someone who does quilting in the Round Rock/North Austin area?

What can I do next?

How wonderful that you are doing this. My sons have quilts that their grandmother made (25 years ago) and they treasure them.

I don't know of anyone personally in the Austin area who does quilts, but I can tell you that the Lutheran church is notorious for having quilting clubs. I'm sure other churches have the same thing, and they could put you on the right path to finding someone who does quality work.

I would just call and ask the main office if they have a quilting circle and could you please have the name of one of the members.

You might also try googling "texas quilts" or "quilts texas" or "quilts austin texas" (you get the idea) and see what comes up. I think your biggest hurdle will be finding someone who does quality work. If you can find someone who will hand-make a quilt for you, you might want to ask them if you could bring them some of the children's old clothes or maybe some pieces of a favorite blanket to incorporate into the new quilt(s).

Good luck!

I asked a friend who is really "crafty", her response:

"Try Austin Area Quilt Guild www.aaqg.org, Bernina Ready to Sew (near HEB on RM1431 or Mini-Stitches in downtown RR. There is also a RR quilt group called Chisholm Trail Quilters, but I can't find any contact info."

I did a search on "Chisholm Trail Quilters" and got the following links:

GOOD LUCK!!!

While, I do not know anyone personally in the area that makes handmade quilts to sell, Etsy.com is a great website that allows people to buy/sell handmade items. I would recommend this site for a handmade personalized quilt. There are a lot of local sellers on there, as well. Very popular site for people with handmade goods. Hope this helps :)

My best friend that lives across the street has a quilting business, www.overthetopquilting.com.
She makes beautiful quilts, she did one for my birthday that was so amazing.
One of her quilts was featured last year at the "big quilting" show in Dallas, depicting 9/11 (she is originally from New York).
Her name is Chris Wenz and she is super talented.
Good luck,
K.
