So What Happened?

I went to Dr. Beimfohr yesterday, and we are trying the Pill. Seasonique, let me know if you took this before. I feel wierd being on the pill, I haven't been on this since I was 18 years old. Deep down inside, I want children, but my husband doesn't because his are grown. I really can't afford Invitro, so I have been O.K. with not having them. I can babysit your kids, and send them home, LOL... This site is awesome!!!!

I really enjoy the support.

I would most definitely not give up on having children. I know of 2 people who have had PID and have children. I have Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS), and the best thing to do about the cysts is to take birth control. If you are seriously wanting to have children, I would HIGHLY recommend seeing an Endocronologist. They can do wonders with taking care of fertility issues AND those pesky cysts. Good luck to you, and keep us all posted!!

I have had a cyst as well for three years now. They did surgery and left it. But I will not go into that. I just moved to the area and saw a new doctor and right away he new that a Hysterectomy was the right thing to do. I am really comfortable with him and I really do not like doctors after the other surgery. If you can not have children and do not want them, why wouldn't they concider it? How old are you? I know that plays a part in deciding. I am 28 with four children and they did a number on my body, so that might also play a big part in his quick decision. But it can not hurt to ask, right? Feel free to contact me!

First of all, do you want to have children?
I too have PID, and have had two children. Both pregnancies were normal and with no special needs. I also have suffered with ovarian cyst my entire life, and they can and are extremely painful. Over the years we(doctors and I) have tried all types of remedies, from the pill to laproscopies(too many to count) and now the best is my IUD, (merena) It helps keep my cyst under contro. As far as a hystrectomy, well you are young, but if your doctor is willing and you don't mind, then it could help solve many a problem. Just make sure you get all the facts, and there is nothing wrong with getting a 2nd or even 3rd opinion.
Goodluck

I have cysts and 3 uterine fibroids. I went thru all sorts of medical tests and exams and thought the worst. Then I picked up Women's Bodies, Women's Wisdom a book by Cristiane Northrup, MD. And Anatomy of the Spirit by Carolyn Myss. WOW, that's all I have to say.
I stopped drinking caffine and detoxed my liver, blood for 2 weeks. I was 28 and I wanted kids and I wasnt letting any Dr. tell me that wasn't possible.
Cysts and fibroids have alot to do with emotional health. The books listed above really touch on that.
A month after reading the books and detoxing, no caffine, I went back for a follow up sonogram and EVERYTHING had shrunk almost 85%.
3 months later I was pregnant and now I have a wonderful little guy!!!! Pick up the books, they are really worth it!
Best of Luck to you!!

That is an option, however most doctors are making that a last resort instead of the first option now a days. I have friends who have problems with cysts, and they have them on birth control pills they take them year round (never taking that last week to have a period0 because having a period can make them worse. So that may be an option, or they could do a particial hysterectomy where they would only remove part and not all. There are many options out there, keep your mind open to doing something other than a hysterectomy unless it is absolutely necessary. If they do have to do the full one, you need to get on natural hormone replacement, most doctors will put you on synthetic hormones and they are not good for your body. I wish you the best.

I have had ovarian cysts since I was about 16 years old. I get them every month. When my first husband and I were going through fertility treatments (we tried for 7 years) they put me on birth control pills basically every other month. They would find several cysts on my ovarys and the next month I would come in and they would be gone. They think that the cysts were a main reason as to why my first husband and I couldn't conceive. I am not sure if it is all in God's time or what, but I've been married to my new husband since July 21st of this year and I am now 7 weeks pregnant. I was spotting badly two weeks ago and they've since found 2 cysts, one is directly across from the sac. I have heard several people say that once pregnant it will help the cysts. But I can tell you from experience. Cysts can be very painful. I have learned the months that I have them and the ones that I don't.

As for if the doctors would consider a hysterectomy, if a condition gets to be harmful for your health they could reccomend that you have one. They may take your one or both of your ovaries. It would likely depend on if your body has cysts on both ovaries or just one of them.

If you are still needing an answer, let me know. I can ask a friend that is a nurse and both of her daughters have polycystic ovarian syndrome.

I've had so many ovarian cysts, I wouldn't really worry about a hysterectomy right now. My doctor told me most woman get cysts, and a lot of them will go away on their own, or you can take bc pills to make them go away. They put me on BC to get rid of my cysts and I still had them, and still do now that I'm pregnant. My friend's mom has a ton of cysts and the doctors basically told her it was up to her, because the cysts weren't life threatening or anything.
If your doctor is telling you that you need a hysterectomy, I'd get a second opinion, since you haven't even had a baby yet, and like others have said, it's not necessarily impossibly to have children due to PID, just maybe harder.

You should talk to another doc. I have Endometrosis and I get Cysts all the time. Some times they will go away on their own and sometimes they will have to be taken out. I see Dr. Schwartz with Women's Health Advantage in Fort Wayne. There is nothing wrong with having cysts as long as you have a good doctor and they keep an eye on them. A Historectomy is never consitered unless you are OLD or have serious problems!

a lot of it depends on how easy it'd be to take the cysts out, I get cysts frequently & had a 7point cysts removed with laser surgery summer of 2004, they talked of a hysterectomy after my daughter was born in Jan. 2003 but I didn't want it

I have Ovarian Cyst too..Mind you I have a 2 year old daughter and had it previous to that. Depending on your age is when they decide when it's right I have had those since I was 18 and im 28 and they have not considered it with me yet they do watch me to make sure that im in no danger..really it just depends on what doctor you have. They are all different

I had a ovarian cyst last year until it ruptured in december.i have noticed since then that during my ovuation days, my ovaries hurt alittle but it isnt that bad. it just depends on how big they are and if they get smaller whe the hormone levels go down. mine all depend on my hormones.

I have had a PID before and I am now going to give birth to my 6th child. Cysts can be treated with BC pills to make them shrink or dissappear. Then there is a possibity of getting off the pill and getting pregnant. I'd get another opinion about the no kids thing cause like I said, I had a PID.
