What do other moms do for cell phones. Do you use prepaid or monthly plans? Have you used net 10 or straightalk, cricket. I live in Derby but I need something with good service in Mulvane wichita. all those areas since I travel around town. My phone now gets no service In a Mulvane schools. I would like a plan that I can text and take pic with out charging me. I do not do much of it. What would you suggest or used bad or good. I am getting a new phone soon.

What can I do next?

Don't get sprint. I loath it and I can't wait till I can get out of my plan. I am actually going to pay my way out of it.
Most places will of course find hidden charges. Well I have paid more for the most basic plan and their hidden charges that I keep finding, than If I got their most expensive plan and got a new phone on top of it.
I right now have the 450 minutes with unlimited text. I send pictures of my son to his dad daily. Well I had just taken my unlimited data plan off because it was to much. This month bill is $140 because (even though I read the fine print) I didn't see anywhere were it said that I had to upload the pictures to their sprint picture mail then send them out once I get to a camera. Yeah. lame. I kept sending them via text like one normally does. So now I have a huge bill. Apparently it uses the internet to text someone a picture, but they wont charge you to upload it to the computer then send it that way. It's the most STUPID waste of time ever!
My family has cricket. It's ok. Some spots work, some don't. You just have to find them and avoid them. I like their price, they are now getting decent phones, and their customer service in the stores is great (not when you call in though)

i'm not sure about coverage around there, but i use t-mobile. it's hard for me to reccomend it because i was always a verizon girl. but doing hte prepaid tmobile gave me more bang for my buck. i had two phones on an 1100 minute plan and unlimited txting for 179 base (was almost always 190 by the time everything was said and done). well... we switched to t-mobile, and we have unlimited txting and talking for 100 bucks total. nor bad at all. its 50 dollars per month per phone. you can txt pictures and everything. only drawback is you have to pay for the phone, but i think it would be worth it in the long run. i rarely have issues with reception, (only in the spots where no other service gets reception either). and i'm quite happy with my new carrier. good luck finding one.

i live in belle plaine and any phone service sucks here. but for mulvane and wichita my service works great. i use straight talk and i get the 1000 min 1000 texts and 30mb of web. the texts include pics. i text more than i talk so it works great for me. my mom and dad use net 10 and havent had any problems with it. my husband also uses net10 and has hardly ever complained. hope this helps. good luck

I LOVE my new Virgin Mobile plan and phone! I've only had it about 3 weeks but it is so much better than my former pay-as-you-go plan and the phone rocks.

$25/month for unlimited web, text, data and 300 minutes. You can change to something like 500 minutes for $45/month or just "top off" in increments of $25 if you need to.

No contract!!

I chose the LG Optimus V smartphone. Love it. And this from a girl that scorned mobile phones and hated the idea of a smartphone. With free unlimited texting and email on my phone, I barely use the call minutes at all.

(If you want this phone, it's often sold out online at Virgin Mobile. I purchased mine at Target and my friend got hers at Best Buy. I was even able to keep my phone number from AT&T.)

I have Sprint and love it ~ switched to T-Mobile a couple years ago because my family was on T-Mobile...they messed up my account terrible ~ was so glad when I could go back to Sprint ~ with their All inclusive $69.99 plan, it is really hard to find anyone that compares! I send pictures some, text a lot, and use it for internet too ~ a great value to me...Best Buy has sales on Sprint phones where you don't have to pay the rebate amount and then wait to get your money back! Have fun shopping for a new phone, I know the joy of trying to decide, but I am very happy with my choice, I travel a lot and need good coverage:)

I have been very happy with U S Cellular for several years. I know lots of areas don't get good antenna strength in your area but the other things about the plans are what I like best.

Incoming calls are free. I can get a thousand calls a day and it doesn't cost my anything. I can call someone and say "Call me!", I hardly ever get close to using all our minutes.

U S Cellular to U S Cellular customers is also free. All my family is on it so I can call my husband any time and it is no charge.

We can sign up for every little thing and it's not much of an addition. For both my husband and myself, texting, pictures sent via the phone, internet access, everything for both of us is just over $100 a month. We gave up cable internet, home phone line, and do most of that on our cell phones now.

We also have phone insurance (The Belief Plan) so that if our phone gets broken or something on it stops working we can get another phone for free. We get points each month and after X amount of months we can apply our points to new phones and get top brands for free. My next one is going to be and Android model of some sort with a touch screen with tons of memory and a fast processor. I also want it to take videos and great pictures. It will be free instead of hundreds of dollars due to my points applying to the purchase of it.
