Question About Baby Eye Color! Please Help by Telling Me Your Experience!

Most of my boys have brown eyes, and they started out brown. My other two have hazel eyes that started out grey. It was a gradual all-over change that was hardly noticeable.

My grandma has an eye with a brown patch. I think it's kinda neat.
With my boys, they are both blue eyed. Altough the older my 16 yo gets the more green his eyes get.

My lil guy started with blue and stayed dominantly blue until over a year. Even at 2 we had no idea what color his eyes would finally be. They changed daily. Some days they were dark blue, some days almost grey some days they were half blue and half brown and and others they were a greenish/hazel color. The color of shirt worn seemed to determine what color his eyes would appear :-) Now he is three and they seem to have settled at a hazel color. My eyes are brown and my husbands's are blue. I think your little one is fine.

I have no idea what heterochromia is---but I have 4 children---and I never really noticed their eye color change. They were all born with blue eyes--some darker than others. My oldest son has very dark brown eyes (almost black) now. My daughter's eyes were still blue in her one-year picture---then all of a sudden--without me noticing it--they turned brown. And my two youngest had blue--one turned dark brown and the other is green. Didn't really notice a dramatic change at any particular time. Don't know if this helps. Jut my experience. :)

Mine started out a very dark blue, then gradually turned dark brown (neither of us have brown eyes). I don't remember the age they changed. The genetics of eye color are more complicated than they taught us in school!

my 8 year old son has heterchromia with no underlying issues, one eye is solid blue, the other is about 80% brown with a patch of blue at the bottom. I have to remind him not to say things to strangers: "you're noticing how cool my eyes are, aren't you?"

I don't remember exactly when it started but even looking back at photos of him at 10 months I can see the difference. I think generally, most eye color change is subtle, as people here are reporting, the overall color alters slightly day to day. For my son, it was like your experience, one day you look and there's a different patch.

I think your baby is fine. Both my girls were born with steel grey eyes. So was I. Then when they were about 2 months old they started to change to a beautiful blue. My husband has blue eyes and I now have hazel. I have to say my eyes still change color, though. When I cry they turn a very blue green color. Almost as if the color is enhanced because of the crying. I actually like it because I don't see it in my girls. As your kids grow talk to them about their beautiful eye color!

My daughter was born with dark eyes and they have been getting lighter and lighter- hers are now grey-blue.

I have been told that they color of our eyes is ever changing! If you are truly worried take her to your GP or even your family eye doctor and they can calm your worries.

my oldest was born with blue eyes, and when he was about 1, they started turning greenish-gray, gradually. now they're anything from gray to blue to green, depending on the day.

My 3 were all born with bright blue eyes. The eldest turned a gorgeous green/hazel immediately after being very sick with a high fever about the age of 2. The 2nd turned an auburn brown around the age of 1.

My sons eyes are exactly as you described your daughters they have been like that for the longest time and he will be 3 yrs old in 4 months. I keep waiting for them to change to brown since my husband and I both have hazel eyes and can't believe his are still blue!

My son has that and it has never changed.

My first daughter's blue eyes always had a tinge of another color in them. When she was 4 years old her eyes changed color becoming first green and later on hazel and green. They only turn blue when she is sick.
My next daughter had blue eyes which began to get flecks of green and finally changed to green around 10 years of age. Her eyes look blue or green. Blue eyes are recessive. Green is the next color followed by hazel and then brown.
According to Dr. Bernard Jensen whose books on eye color being linked to disease and identity only Brown and Blue are true eye colors. All others are a mix of health conditions. He says spots can be removed with proper diet. He died many years ago but his books are still in print and very valuable in diagnosis and treatment.
My blue eyes are called Russian Blue because you see this color only in people Russian descent. They are dark almost navy in color and turn purple blue sometimes.

My eye color changed right up until I was 13. They went from blue to grey and now green.

Eye color change is gradual over the whole eye rather than "patchy". We were advised that whatever it is at the first birthday is what it's going to be (at least until puberty)

My daughter had the brightest turquoise eyes until about 2.5 years old when they turned to a wonderful leafy green with gold around the pupil.

Eyes do not have to be a uniform color... some children have 2 different colored eyes. I think you may be worrying about nothing, just enjoy the changing of the color.

So with my second daughter (now 14 months), we kept watching (i.e., obsessing) for her eyes to turn blue. It hasn't (and won't) happen. Hers are a really cool hazel color that seems to change depending on the weather or what she is wearing. She also has a large brown spot in one of her eyes. The doctor said it is kind of like a mole. As long as it doesn't affect the shape of the pupil, it is not a problem. I would suggest you have your ped look at it, though. And, eyes gradually change color over the entire iris, not in spots. If your child has a spot in his eye, it's probably there to stay.
