I'm kitchen challenged, but I do my best. :). My crockpot isn't working and I am wanting to make pulled pork in my oven. Is it possible? What temperature and for how long? I should say I've never made pulled pork before. My mother in law gave me a huge pork loin roast and so I thought I'd give it a whirl. Any help, I need. Thanks!

What can I do next?

Put it in a large roaster pan with a quartered onion.
I cooked a "huge" O. at 350 in about 3 hrs.
Shred with 2 large forks when it's done. (No pink!)
Then add BBQ sauce.
Super easy. Good luck!

You can cut it into smaller pieces and make a pork roast dinner and use the leftover meat and gravy to make sanwiches.

I would say 350* and cook about 30 minutes/ pound. I suggest you get a good general information cookbook, such as the Betty Crocker Cookbook. There are indexes and pages with cooking information for almost any kind of food.

A pork loin is very lean, sometimes with a fat cap. It will never shred properly. Generally, a cheap, fatty cut like "picnic" shoulder should be used for pulled pork but it takes a crazy long time to get it to the point where it shreds. You can speed up the process by cutting it into pieces, putting liquid in the pan and covering with foil. I reccomend you look up pok loin recipes. Giada has a lot of great ones where you marinade the loin and cook it over oven roasted potatoes. Good luck!

Yes cover the pot either with a tight fitting lid or cover with foil. You want as little moisture to escape as possible.

Pork loin roast is not appropriate for pulled pork. It is too firm. Also it's a more expensive cut than one appropriate for pulled pork. I would roast it in the oven at 350 using a meat thermometer and then slice it.

Pulled pork is made with cheap cuts such as shoulder or butt. It is cooked with moist heat. You can cook it in the oven by putting it into a covered pan with water in the bottom and cook until it is well done. The moisture softens the fiber. I don't know how long it would take. I'd look it up on the Internet or a basic cookbook. You can also cook it in a pot with water on top of the stove for many hours.

Here is a good web site that explains about pulled pork and how to cook it. http://www.amazingribs.com/recipes/porknography/perfect_p... This site has yellow highlighted red letters that you can click on to tell you how to cook a pork loin roast.
