Hello Mommies,

I have a 4-1/2 year old boy who is allergic to milk, wheat, soy and eggs (to name a few major ones). Any suggestions on protein source? Lately, it is a fight to get him to eat any meat (chicken, pork or beef). Since he is allergic to so many things/additives in store bought food, we have been eating home cooking most of time. Thanks!!!

What can I do next?

I would also suggest giving him a very nutrient packed vitamin. Let me know if you need suggestions.

Hi A.!! We have some of the same issues (milk and soy allergies) and have been very successful with Raw goats milk. You can get it pasturized also at some stores, but after all the research I did, I chose to go raw. We also make our own cheese and yougrt from it. Often people who are allergic to cow;s milk can have goats milk and be fine, the protien and fat is different. won't go into all the science here, but thee is a lot of info out there about it, and it is really healthier. I've even made raw goat formula when I had to stop nursing.

That is a challenge! If he does not have nut allergies I would recommend peanut butter or almond butter. My picky non-milk son loves apples dipped in peanut butter. He does not get a lot of protein. We do smoothies so your little boy might like a rice milk smoothie. My little guy just never really took to meat or milk so he is usually high on carbs. The good news is that he is a healthy 8 year old now. His body responds well.

Beans are a great source of protein, as well as nuts? I make pinto beans with other veggies thrown in that my kiddo will eat. I am so sorry you are having to deal with food allergies...I am sure that is not fun at all!!! Good luck!

I know just what you are going thru. My little grandson is 2 and he also has the same allergies. I have put him on rice milk and i mix goats milk with it. I have put him on a good vitiman as well. His ammune system is just beat down because he stays so sick from all of it.The health food store has alot of good immune booster for kids as well. The only thing he will eat is meat so i dont know who is the worst off me or you.The health food stores has chewables that are all natural veggies and they really taste good you may want to check and see if they have something in the protien dept. But be very careful if you are not sure if he is allergic to nust my baby almost died before we could get him to the er from eating peanut butter. I hope your son grows out of it because it is very hard.

One recipe that works for us is rice pasta labeled gluten free. It sounds weird, but it is actually delicious. I pick it up at Whole Foods as well as some spagetti sauce. You can mix in ground beef, pork sausage, chicken. Cut the meat in small chunks and he may not mind the meat as much. Also try almond milk. It is much sweeter then soy and has protien. You can buy many different flavors. I just went to Whole Foods and asked some of the workers there for some help, and they showed me a of variety of foods to try. I hope this helps, looks like with the allergies above you have quite a challenge!

Hello! I didn't see nut allergies (which surprises me) Peanut butter is a great source of protein. I used to make my daughters sandwhiches of a apple sliced top to bottom and kind of thin with peanut butter. Just for something different. I know that helps with lunch, not dinner. My husband just found out he may be allergic to wheat and soy. I haven't started aclimating our diet yet, Zyrtec is helping him. Hamburgers and Hotdogs? Grilled chicken and some Ranch or something for dipping? SOrry I couldn't be of more help.
