Anybody have any recommendations for good private swim lessons in the area (either private instructor or through swim school)?

So What Happened?

I just wanted to thank everyone who gave their input on swim schools/lessons. I am going to go and check out many of the schools you've recommended.

I have been taking my kids to Fremont Swim School in Livermore for 5 years now. They just renamed it American Swim Academy I think. They do a great job, but the key is to sign up for more than 1 session per week. Good luck!

We took our son to Becca at The Hills in the Montclair district of Oakland for private lessons. She was great and our son really liked swimming with her.

Both of my daughters went to Harriet Plummer in Lafayette at the age of 3 & 5. Progress are great. My 2 yrs old nephew now go too. It is a bit expensive but really worth it to start of with them.

Good luck

Not sure where you live but my 2 year old started swim lessons at 18 months (there are some that start as young as 6 months) and she loves it. We are in Livermore and go to Fremont Swim school. They also have a location in Dublin I believe. The teachers are great and the water is nice and warm.

All Star Swim Academy of Danville. The owners are Jenny and Brian Oas and they both are fantastic!! The do swim lessons along with the ISR classes for infants and toddlers. My daughter took the ISR classes and has now transitioned to the swim lessons. All lessons are one on one with your child and either one of the owners. They cater specifically to your child. Just a month or so ago they were actually on CBS, Channel 5 regarding their swim intruction style and I just cant recommend them more!!! Here is their website for more info - http://www.allstarswimschool.com/

Sherman Swim School in Lafayette. They won Best of the Bay last year. They are a bit pricey, but worth every dollar!!! My son started there at 3+ years old and was very fearful of the water. After several lessons, they had him jumping off the diving board. After two summers of lessons, he's now doing freestyle at 5 years old.
