Private Schools in Fort Worth Area?

We live in the south west Fort Worth area and are looking into private schools for our daughter who will be starting kinder this yr (08-09 school yr). We will probably be going through Southwest Christian or something, but I was wondering if anyone had their kids enrolled there or somewhere in the area and really liked it? I'd love any extra suggestions before I put down such a large (non refundable!) deposit.
Thanks!!!

Hi S.,
We have our youngest daughter enrolled in a public charter school North Texas Elemantary School of the Arts, it is a performing arts school K-6th. Another daughter went to Fort Worth Academy of Fine Arts - a sister school to TESA- 3rd-12th grade. If your child is at all interested in the performing arts this is a great start. They do wear uniforms which we really love but there is not tuition. www.fwafa.com or Ntesa.org
They have small classes which we really like. they are pretty strict about being on time, etc.

Depending how far south of FW you live . . . you might try Joshua Christian Academy. They have a great school program and are just a little past Burleson on 174. Good Luck and God Bless!

I have had my daughter @ Pantego Christian Academy in Arlington/Pantego since kinder she will be in 9th grade next year. She loves the school and has made wonderful friends there. We have been very satisfied with the school. I know it may be a drive for you but we have students that live in Burleson, Dallas, Ft. Worth etc. There is always the possibility of car pool. The teachers & staff are wonderful they really care about the kids and go that extra mile for them. I thought you might want to at least visit the school and see for yourself.

My Brother and Sister-in-law were going to go with SCS also, but just could not stomach the huge cost for Kindergarten. They decided on Covenant Classical School. They love it! It is a smaller school then SCS. They go up to 12th grade, but the highschool classes are much smaller then the lower school, because it is a young school. They are so happy there and it is almost half the price of SCS. The website is www.covenantfw.org. SCS is a great school though. I used to sub there and we have a ton of friends who go there and have had great experiences.

The larger main private schools in fort worth have already set their kinder classes for next year, so you are way too late to begin that search. I work at one of them in the admissions office. I strongly suggest that whatever school you choose, you research where they are accredited by, and be certain that it is a national organization, and not just "the church that sponsors them". Should you have to move later on down the road, it would be a shame for them not to have the academics that they need. BTW, our school gets kids from SCS all the time, and most are well prepared to enter our advanced program, which is approximately one year ahead of the kids in public schools. (My son in kinder this year is doing 1st grade math in class, and he is reading at a 3rd grade level).

If the cost of private school is prohibitive, they usually all have financial aid available, also.

My son goes to Covenant Christian Academy in Colleyville, and we love it! Since you live in Ft. Worth, I would check into a K-12th grade school called Faith. Tuition is alot, but it is worth every penny, if it does not put too much of a strain on your family. You would be looking at roughly 8,000 yrly for a 1st grader. If you can't do that, I would recommend Temple Christian off 30 and Randol Mill. It is about 1/2 the cost, and still a very good school...it just does not 'appear' to have the same standard of excellence in the facility, but I think the education is definite quality.

Hi S.,
Trinity Christian Academy is in Willow Park (N of Weatherford) on I-20. I work with a lady whose daughter is finishing kindergarten and absolutely LOVES IT!! The website for the school is www.tcaeagles.com. Her email is ____@____.com and she'll be more than happy to give you any and all of the info that you'll need for the school.
Hopefully this will help. Dustie is the type of person that will beat herself down with comparing schools, pricing, etc. and TCA was the best in all areas.

Look into Lake Country Christian School -- they are in the NW part of Fort Worth, but lots of people drive out there from the south. They have great teachers and a solid Christian worldview.

My Daughter is only 17 months old, so not in school. But we have many, many friends with children at Covenant Classical School. It's off White Settlement I think and here is their website.
