My husband and I are considering moving to OKC or Edmond area. We are looking for a private school for our three kids 3, 5, and 7. We prefere a non-denominational Christian school or even a secular school. Any recommendations are appreciated as well as any info anyone may have on Heritage Hall or Crossings Christian School. Thank you in advance.

I am a graduate of Heritage Hall and my mother has been teaching there for 20 years. It is a GREAT school with very good learning programs. Small class sizes allow for teacher attention for everyone in the room. I am proud to be a graduate and am hopeful to send my own kids there when the day comes - faster than I realize. Awesome close-knit community and small classes also allow kids to excel at whatever they want - theater arts, sports, academics, student government, etc. I am also VERY CLOSE friends with the admissions director at Crossings. Fabulous school with the best staff and teachers around. My friends with children reaching school age are wowed after their tours and ready to enroll. I think this is a fabulous option as well.

My mother has been the Spanish teacher at St. Eugene Catholic for 11 years. She went and checked out Crossings School and just raved over it to me. She said it's absouletly fabulous!!!!

Our son goes to OCA (Oklahoma Christian Academy)on Littler in between Bryant and Boulevard. I stressed out trying to decide where to send him this year for school. OCA is affiliated with Church of Christ which we are not- but they don't push Church of Christ, but do have Chapel. We will send our twin girls there next year as well as we have very much enjoyed our experience there. One of the nice things about it is that it is a small school, graduating around 30 something every year.

I have lived in Edmond my whole life and grew up with people who have attended different private schools and attended Oklahoma Christian School (OCS) myself. In Edmond I think the best private preschool and elementary is St Mary's, this is where I will be sending my children. They start teaching them Spanish immediately, which I believe that a foreign language is fantastic for early educational development. I have also heard great things about the Crossings school, I am not sure how long it has been around but it is fairly new. My experience at OCS was terrible. There are certain private schools that have become somewhat of a "reform" school that are known for their discipline techniques. This attracts parents with problem children. My parents sent me there for the Christian based education. The classes were small and half of the kids in your class were troublemakers, which makes for a very distracting learning environment. Things could have changed, but I would look into it closely.

My son is in pre-k at Westminster School and it has been a great choice for him. I love the style of teaching, the class ratio, and my son loves going. My daughter will start in the Fall and I am very excited to see how she does. I would highly recommend Westminster!

If you have any questions please feel free to e-mail me.
Good Luck!

My family and I currently attend Destiny Christian Center in Del City, OK. The church has a school attached that is absolutely great in my opinion. It is K3 through 12, and accredited. They just changed their name this year to Destiny Christian School, formerly it was Mid-Del Christian School. So if you ask anyone else in the area about it they may know it as Mid-Del. My daughter went one full year of K4 there and started her K5 year, but God laid it on our hearts to start homeschooling (which has been a blessing) so she didn't finish. If you would like to contact the school the phone #is ###-###-#### and their website is www.destinywildcats.com. The school is well established as it has been around for 25 years. Last January an ice storm caused our gym to collapse, so as a result the church and the school have collectively been working on a building campaign which will result in some absolutely wonderful facilities for the school. A small portion is completed with another larger portion being near completion. If you happen to drive by, please don't let the messy construction site look fool you, there is some great teaching and learning going on in there!

Our kids, now in 6th and 3rd grade attend Westminster School and have attended there since pre-school. I highly recommend this school and encourage you to take a tour to check it out. Your children can even go for a day to try it out to see if fits their learning style.

Westminster is located next to Westminster Presbyterian Church in Northwest OKC, but is not related or affiliated with the church. The website for Westminster is www.westminsterschool.org. I hope this helps!
