Private School for Grade K

I am going crazy with trying to find a private school for my 5 yr old next yr. I never thought I would put him in private school at this age - but I will not put him on a 40min bus ride to Montgomery schools when I live in Sugar Grove. I feel I might as well drive him myself to a private school for a few yrs. I had a tour of Immanual Luthern in Bataiva and thought it was a very nice school. Trying to get more apts with other schools - but would like anyones opinion on their experiances. I personally am not looking for a school with serious religious influence . I like a more laid back attitude with some christian bible teachings. I am more concerned about the math and reading acadamics.

I have been going to Immamuel for two years and love it. I have a son in 4th and twins in preschool. I can't say enough about the wonderful teachers and staff. The principal is the best I have ever met. I have loved getting to know all the other parents also. It is like one big caring family. We always have so many parents that help out and voulenteer for things. Their test scores have always been very high. I drive almost 15 minutes to get there and feel it is worth it. I do have a friend who lives near Blackberry farm and she goes there and just loves it. It is worth the drive.

M., You didn't indicate whether you were looking for a particular religion in the private school. My older 3 kids all went to Holy Angels in Aurora. It was spectacular. The education they get is well worth the drive to get them there. And there are other sugar grove families who attend holy angels school. We moved to Montgomery when my youngest son was just starting kindergarten. We put him into public school instead of driving back and forth to holy angels. it was a mistake and I am sorry about it. His teachers are wonderful in the public schools but there is just something extra they get at catholic schools. we really miss it and wish we had sent our youngest there also.

GingerCare, located on Butterfield, just East of Kirk/Farnsworth. Fantastic place. My daughter is going there for KG next year. They run along Batavia school district calendar. Their curriculum is fantastic! Uses several of the same books that surrounding public schools use. They only go up to KG as of right now.

I know your struggle!

My daughter currently is attending preschool at Resurrection Lutheran School in Aurora. It is located on Sullivan Rd west of Orchard Road. She has truly enjoyed her time there and the bible stories. The class sizes are small. We are planning to send her to kindergarten there in the fall. Good luck with your decision.

I can highly recommend Batavia Academy Montessori school - you will definately get th reading and math emphasis along with science and other areas of concentration.

There are quite a few families who drive from Sugar grove to this school - it is on Route 25 South of Wilson and North of Route 56.

My son is almost 4.5 and he is reading on his own and can add already. He knows his continents and is learning some science too. I also have an almost 3 year old who is very focused with her work.

The kindergarteners have a focused session every afternoon - where they work on specific subject matter - last month they learned about the sea - various levels of the sea and the animals that live in each level.

I also have a neice in 4th grade there and a nephew in 7th grade - the 7th grader is already doing high school math.

Contact Stacie Benjamin at ###-###-#### - she would be very happy to give you a tour and answer any questions you may have. Good luck! J. Stevens

M.,
i also live in sugar grove and have two boys, age 19 and 13. the bus ride for the kids really isn't that bad. the kids don't mind it at all. If you are really interested in private schools, there is Holy Angels in Aurora and Aurora christian school. I think both have kindergarten. my younger son attended the McDole school the first year it opened and he loved it! the teachers and staff were great. he is now in 7th grade at the middle school.
