I am not familiar with the private schools in this area but Evergreen Elementary is a great school in the area.

The Boyd School is a really good school. The kindergarten students are reading and writing at the second and third grade level.

A friend sent her girls to Golden Pond. I think she was pleased, but not wowed.
Have you looked at The Boyd School (Broadlands)? If you are open to a Montessori program, it's worth looking into. My son went there (on the Reston campus, though) from 3 y.o through kindergarten. It was a wonderful experience for him... that said, the classroom teacher about 80 percent of the experience, so as in most situations, you have to make sure and ask as many questions as possible to determine who's likely to be a good match and who's not. Good luck.

Hi C.,

We are currently looking at GPS for our son's preschool program for the fall. I have heard great things about all programs there, including their private kindergarden program.

Good luck!

Hello C.,

I actually work at a fantastic preschool in Ashburn. Chesterbrook Academy in Farmwell Hunt. My son is currently enrolled in Kindergarten and I am THRILLED with the curriculum and the results. He goes to our Sterling location but we will begin our own Full time kindergarten this fall 2008 at our Ashburn location.

We have a great customized curriculum. I am happy with my son's progress. Let me know if you want the telephone information, etc.

Dear C.

I have one 4 year old in the pre-school program at Golden Pond and she loves it. Several of my neighbors have also sent their kids to GPS and they seem to enjoy the interactive way of teaching. My daughter will definitely be attending for the next year if not two at GPS.

Hi C., Nysmith school in Herndon is very expensive but totally amazing! Not very close to Ashburn, but I know there are alot of Ashburn families that attend. It's a private school that starts at preschool and goes through 8th grade.

Hello C. I sent my son to the Virginia Academy, right off of Ashburn rd and he loved it and so did we. He went to the their preschool program and was reading before kindergarden.

My son attended The Virgina Academy last year, and we thought it was excellent. It's a full day program, and the kids do wear uniforms. They have computer, PE, Spanish during the week, as well as chapel once a week. He really enjoyed this time there, and transitioned well to public school first grade this year.
