I am checking to see what the going rate for in home childcare is. I might start watching my niece in February and I would like to give my brother a fair price and have no idea what would be fair but not too fair (know what I mean?)
Thank you so much for any help.

What can I do next?

Hi C.
I am a part time working mom with a 2.5 year old daughter. We live in Palos Heights. My girlfriend, who lives in Evergreen Park, has been taking care of my daughter 2-3 days a week since she was 6 month old. We pay 60$ daily. My daughter is with her usually long days 7:30-5:00.
Call around to see what other in-home care moms are charging. There are always adds in the pennysaver.

Hi C.:)

I use an in home daycare in Lockport and pay $150 a week for full time. The daycare provider provides breakfast, lunch 2 snacks and if my daughter is still there when she feeds her family dinner she includes her as well. I think what I pay her is very fair considering she is the one with my daughter for 8 1/2 hours a day.
Hope this helps.

We pay $200/week for licensed in-home daycare with a primary caregiver and one assistant on premises. But I think we get a lower price because we've been with this daycare provider for a long time - I've heard $230-250 a week.

On the other hand, I know someone who has a home daycare (also licensed) but no assistant and has fewer kids and they do fewer activites - she only charges about $150/week for full time. I think if the child is going to just hang out with your child, the price should probably be on the lower end. Part of what we pay for is that the provider has a backup in case she's sick, does learning activities, has educational toys on hand and all of the stuff that makes a licensed home daycare be a little more professional.

I pay $35/day for an in home licensed daycare in Bolingbrook. The hours are from 6:30-6:00 (though my son is not there that entire time) and she provides breakfast, lunch, and a snack and does age based activities with the kids. I also get a written report since my son is under 3.

It really depends on the area. Call around to see what other people around you are charging. I have been a daycare provider for 5 years and location makes a huge difference in price. When I started we lived in Elmhurst and the rate there was $45-$55 per day. I now live in Plainfield and the prices here range from $25-40 per day, with $30 being average.

Hi!
I charge $40 per day for over 6 months and $45 per day for under 6 months. I live in Woodridge, and I have been a teacher for 7 years with a master's degreee and 2 Bachelor's in Education. I feed breakfast, lunch and 2 snacks. I also give written reports for the day. My daycare is very small--my son and 2 other children!

Hi C.,

I live in Bridgeview and I have a 3 1/2 year old too. :-) Let me know if you want to get together sometime.

In this area the fair price for home childcare ranges between $130-$150 a week.

Good luck to you.
