Present for Grandpa

OK, I'm supposed to be the "present queen" I guess, because no matter what I'm the one that has to dream up the perfect gift for the people in my husband's family. His Dad's birthday is tomorrow and I have no ideas AT ALL. This man has what he wants, if he doesn't he goes and buys it. He always asks for "tool bucks" which is a gift card to Sears, he saves those for the tools he wants to buy, we just don't want to buy the same old thing every time.

I know this is a long shot, but any ideas?

Thanks,

M.

If he likes to get fancy tools, then a gift card is the way to go. But can you put something else with it? An inexpensive set of kiddie tools he can laugh at and then save for when his grandchildren visit?

It's too late for it to be ready tomorrow, but for my dad, who is 87 and doesn't need anything, Omaha Steaks is great. You could find out if there is a store, or you could order something to be delivered and give him a hand made gift certificate that tells him it's coming.

Well, not sure if you can pull it off for tomorrow, but we've bought puzzles made from family photos and those seem to go over well.

Being married to a 'tool man' tool bucks are very important to him. So as mundane as that might seem, yes get him the tool bucks. Really hubby is a 'toolmaker' he would die for some tool bucks

You know what I did one time?
I had my kids (I don't know how old your kids are), but they wrote, in their own handwriting.... ALL the things they LOVE about their Grandma. (My Dad passed away already). And they drew pictures on it too. Then we framed it.
Grandma, LOVED it. And proudly displays it.
Even if some words may have been misspelled, I left it as is, because the "imperfections" of it, was also endearing.
It was in my kids' own words and their own adjectives about what they loved about Grandma.
It was and is, priceless.

For father in law he was given a nook and a gift card to purchase books.

For my stepdad, we give him DVD's of old war movies or westerns.. He also loves the gift card to sears.

My father loves his iPhone, movies and his pug... He also loves to eat out.. So there are always places to get gift cards, or pug stuff or whatever.

another suggestion - i did this for my dad for Christmas and oviously can't do it by tomorrow - i got some pictures of my nieces and then downloaded pictures and made a mousepad with the grandkids pictures on it for his computer. Its easy to do it on walmart.com and reasonably priced as well. good luck and hope you found something for him

Take a picture of you, hubby & the kids tomorrow, print it out on photo paper & frame it.

Does he watch TV? Buy a remote controll caddy. Have all the kids sign the bottom of it.

Have each child (depending upon their age) write a heart felt note like their favorite memory of time spent with him.

Do you bake? I usually bake something for my FIL. Cookies or a cake. I would do the tool bucks and bake him some cookies. you could do cut out sugar cookies and let the kids decorate them for him, or do a homeade card. Or make him a cake, just get box cake and can frosting, then let the kids decorate it.
