Preschools in St Louis Park

My son will be 3 in May and I am thinking of sending him to preschool in the fall. However, I have no idea where to start looking. The school district offers one for I think 2 hrs either 2 or 3 days a week (I don't remember). I was thinking of one more often than that. I am recently laid off so we are trying to live on one income so cost is an issue too. Please let me know if there are any good schools that you sent your kids to and the cost also. Thanks!

What can I do next?

Our oldest is 2 days a week at St. Davids (not a religous school) located in Minnetonka (close to Hopkins and SLP).
The school does 2 to 5 days of programs. They are an accredited school and our son loves it. There can sometimes be a wait list.
St. David's Center for Child & Family Development = www.stdavids.net
Tuition rates vary depending upon the days you choose. Tuition = http://www.stdavids.net/ecp/tuitionrates.html
I highly recommend. Shawn can give you a tour.
Good luck!

Hi J.. We live in SLP also. We have sent two of our kids to Calvary Lutheran in Golden Valley. (It's just across 394 from us.) They have a good program with some really great teachers. We'll be sending our third child there as well. Good luck with your decision!

Christ Lutheran preschool in Minnetonka has been a great preschool. There are a few different options of class choices. It is at the intersection of Excelsior and Woodland. Good luck.

My daughter went to Early Education Montessori across the street from Cub off Hwy7 located in basement of a Lutheren Church I believe.

I sent her there for full time daycare regular normal priced but I believe they did have the option of part time or just preschool too. They are awesome though!

Otherwise my friends child went to the preschool in the district and asked for a scholarship.

Hi there, We lived in St. Louis Park and my daughter went to Nutcracker Sweet in Edina....on Gleason and 62. She love, love loved it! She went from age three...right up until she started kindergarten. They also have a great summer program. The school is run by 3 sisters...Noni, Debbie and Barbie....each takes a different age group but they do lots together....they've had the business for 25 years. It's in the bottom of St. Albans church.

I've also heard that St. Louis park has a great spanish immersion program for pre-k. That may be a good option also.....I think that's in the community center.

Good luck. Barb Adams

My 3 year old goes to the Sabes JCC Early Childhood Center. It is located at the end of Cedar Lake Road just east of highway 100 and just south of 394. I found out about it on Mamasource 4 years ago when my daughter started preschool. It is safe,in a great facility, professionally run, and offers much more than other preschools we visited. (Swimming lessons, music, gym, art -- classes taught in small groups by specialist teachers.) They are really flexible too...you can attend full time every day, full time 3 days/week, half days every day, half days 3 days/week. My son attends half days every day b/c I teach part time. Half days are 9-12:45...most preschools end at 11:30. It is a little more costly than community ed's program but isn't outrageous...you also get a family membership to to facility which has a gym, workout facilities, indoor and outdoor pools, etc.
