Preschool Time

Hello, I have been looking for a preschool for my daughter now for a few months and I am having a hard time making a decision on one. I am looking to spend around $200/month and I really like the idea of a co-op. I have toured a few schools in the East Madison area but I feel like they were each lacking something. I am all for learning through play but I would like something with a little bit of structure. I also would like a school with a good outdoor playground and any kind of outdoor education is a plus as well. Ideally, I would like to send my daughter to the new Little Explorers Preschool but $1000/month is not in my budget.
If anyone can give me any information on a preschool they have had good experiences with and that sound like they have what I am looking for, I would greatly appreciate it.

What can I do next?

Hi E.!

I live in Fort Atkinson so I am sorry I can't help you with specifics on preschools. I just had to respond because you gave me a good morning laugh with your self-description. THANKS! One thought is if you can't find a preschool that hits all of your ideals due to financial restrictions, evaluate your strengths (are you creative? love outdoors?)and then look for the preschool that is best in delivering the kinds of services that would be considered your weaknesses (e.g., structured curriculum?). That way, if you can't find a place that does it all, your children will still be getting a balance of all that good stuff. Hope you get your pedicure soon!

Hi E.,

These are not on the Eastside, but may be of interest. They both have websites you can check out.

My daughter attends Kids Express Learning Center on the Westside. It is set on a mini-farm and their program is based around nature and the outdoors. They have an organic garden and many different animals like Llama, chickens, goats, sheep that the kids interact with and learn about. They have a nature/Spanish program that the kids attend each week as well. This is my daughter second year there and we have really been happy with it.

New Morning Nursery School is a co-op preschool off of Monroe street. I have a friend whose daughter goes there and they really like it.

Hello-
All four of my children have went to Monona Grove Nursery School. It is located in Lake Edge United Church of Christ on Buckeye Rd on the East Side. It is a parent coop where parents are asked to help in their childs room 1-2 times a semester. It is very play oriented and they have an outside time and snack that the helping parents child brings. they also have field trips in the fall to the Pumpkin patch and spring to the farm. The teachers are wonderful and it is under $200.00 a month. 3-4 yr olds go 2 mornings or afternoons (your choice) on Thurs and Fridays. 4-5 yr olds go Mon, Tues, Weds. Ams or Pms.. They welcome you to stop by during class to check it out with your child or they have an Open house in the spring and fall...you can give them a call for more info..hope this helps:)

Hi E. -

Have you looked into Lakeview nursery school - they are a co-op - I actually went there as a toddler, and may look into it for my own.

The other place I have looked into is Country Creek learning center, technically in deForest, but right off of 51 and 19. I just toured it the other day. Except for the unlocked front door, I think it seems like an excellent school.

Good luck!
