Help!!! I need to find a new preschool for my son in the macomb area. Any suggestions?! Somehow I missed the enrollment for the preschool I wanted and now I feel a little lost. We live by lakeside mall and I'm worried. . . .will everywhere be booked up by now?

Thanks

N.

Hi N.

Both of my daughters have went to preschool (and nursery school) at Oakbrook Elementary (16 & Dodge Park) and the teachers are great! I know they have a morning and afternoon program but not sure if they are filled yet. The programs are through the Utica Community Schools district and we have been very happy with the program.

Good luck. And if you need further information, please let me know and I'd be happy to talk to you it more.

N.,
Check out Immanuel Lutheran at 21/Romeo Plank. I think there are openings for Fall, but not sure. Phone is ###-###-####, and web is immlutheran.org. They have a great preschool, for ages 2-4, and pre k etc. If you call, ask for Liz Lutz.

I just type a really long note... and my computer did something strange and erased it. If you don't mind a bit of a drive-- 20-30 minutes.... check out Premier Academy. I can't say enough about it. I would be happy to talk to you and answer any questions if you want to call me. ###-###-####.

There is an open house on Sat from 12-4.

Hi N.!

I'm not sure which one you wanted to go to, but the ones I'd recommend are:

Little Turtle Preschool (23 & Card). This is where my son goes currently (he just finished the 3-year preschool program and will be going next year for the 4-year program.) We both LOVE it.

Dakota Preschool (this is located inside Dakota High School). I thought this was a nice preschool as well, and it literally costs half of what Little Turtle Costs. There is one teacher in each room, but then there are also about 4 girls (high school seniors) in each room to help out (they get credit for this "class".) I thought that was pretty cool. We chose not to go to Dakota though, because I needed a morning class and they started at 8 am...too early for my family! (Little Turtle has a few different start times to choose from, I believe they are 8:30, 9 and 9:15, depending on which teacher you want.)

Immanuel Lutheran Preschool: I see somebody else recommended this as well! I did not even consider this school because I was naive thought you had to be Lutheran to go there (we are Catholic). I found out later that I was wrong! I know 2 people who've enrolled their kids there and they loved it!

I'm sure there are openings in many schools still. Good luck!

Check out the Goddard School at 24 & Hayes. It's a wonderful, brand new school with a fantastic educational program. All of the teachers are certified and they even have a reading specialist on staff that is about to finish up her Master's Degree. I have known the owner for over 30 years and she is amazing. I would highly recommend the school.

Peace Lutheran School in Shelby Twp on 24 Mile between Van Dyke and Mound has a wonderful preschool program for 3's and 4's in mornings and afternoons. Peace offers a warm, loving, Christian enviroment. You do not have to be Lutheran to attend a Lutheran school. A quality, Christian education is the church's mission. They also have a day school for Young Five's (which Utica Comm Schools no longer offers) and Kindergarten thru 8th grade. Call Peace for more info at ###-###-####.
