I am looking for a preschool or private school in the Lakewood/Lake Highlands area for my almost 3 year old. A school that accepts younger children, 7mth now and 15mth next school year, would be great as well. I would like both my kids to attend the same school a few days a week. Thank you in advance for you suggestions - I am so confused!

Lakehill doesn't start till kindergarten, but we went to Incarnation's MDO on McKinney. Children's Center is awesome as well.

St. James Episcopal is wonderful. They have a toddler class and MDO as well as school up to age 8. Both my sons have gone there.
My youngest hasn't turned 4 yet and is already starting to read. The Montessori way of teaching is excellent and helps the children enjoy learning from the beginning. Just call them to set up an appt to have a tour.

CCDC at Lake Highlands United Methodist Church has an awsome program for those ages. But across the street from there is Highlander where I send my kids and it is amazing! But they start at 3. Good luck!

Have you tried Savvy Source? The website: http://www.savvysource.com/. It will list names based on your zip, it has parent reviews and ratings as well.

I had (roughly) the same request several weeks ago, as the ones I knew of (CCDC and St. James) had year-long wait lists. Another MammaSource mom tipped me on to the Little Acorns program at Highlands Oaks Church of Christ, and we love it. I think it's fairly new, so it's not as well known as some others, but it's really great. The director is a former school superintendent and she hires mostly accredited teachers. The ratios are super low and the cost is great (the school is heavily subsidized by the church so they can afford these great luxuries). It's at a church, but the focus is more about learning and education (in a fun environment) than about any specific religious ed, IMO (if that's an issue for you). They are only 2 days a week (Tues/Thurs) from 9:00 - 2:00 and they start at infants and go thru pre-K. Check it out. We love it and the facility is gorgeous! Here is the savvysource web link:

BTW, the savvysource page says they start at 2-yrs, but they actually now have an infant room and a toddler room. My son is 20 months and is in the toddler room. .... which has 2 teachers for 5 kids!! Fabulous.

My daughter went to the Skillman Street Church on Vanderbilt and Skillman for a year before we went to the Montessori Children's House and School. (We transfered because my older son wemt there ane we LOVE it). I have a ton of friends that use that school until Kindergarten. I highly recommend them. They have a lot of fun activities. My daughter is 4 now and still talks about the pony ride day with Bubbles.

My family goes to CCDC (Lake Highlands United Methodist). We love it, but there is a waitlist. My neighbors went to Children's Center and really enjoyed them.
