Hi Moms,
Just moved to the valley from Santa Monica. I'm looking for a prenatal yoga class in the valley- preferably Studio City or Sherman Oaks. Any body have a teacher they absolutely love?

So What Happened?

Thank you to everyone who recommended Two Hearts Yoga (Black Dog). I love Georgina's class, and I recently tried the restorative class on Sunday afternoons with Melissa. It's awesome too. I try to visit the studio 1-2 times a week. Thanks again mamas!

I would recommend Two Hearts Yoga in Sherman Oaks, it's a really great, friendly place with small classes.

E.,

I don't know where you're delivering but St. Joseph's hospital in Burbank offers a wide variety of prenatal classes thru their Babywise program including yoga. I don't personally know how they are (they added yoga after I delivered my son) but the parenting, cpr, and lamaze classes are great!

Good luck and congratulations!

Hi E.. I never actually went to this class while I was pregnant, so I can't say if it was good or bad - but check out Blackdog Yoga on Magnolia in Sherman Oaks - I know they have a class.

Good luck - have fun!

Hi E.,

Two Hearts Yoga in Sherman Oaks is a family yoga studio. They are prenatal, postnatal, baby, kid and even teen based. Their website is posted below. I can't recommend their classes enough. I checked it out because a friend was raving and was so happy I did. It's located next to Black Dog Yoga, it's a spin-off I believe. Best wishes.

You HAVE to go to Two Hearts Yoga in Sherman Oaks. I have taken yoga in the past, but never felt like I was getting a decent work out and felt bored. I never feel bored in Georgina's class, and quite honestly, I always feel good about the workout after. It is obviously tailored toward pregnant women, and she tailors it even more based on how pregnant you are. Best class, period.

I love love LOVE Shosha Bottoms' class on Mon, Wed, Sat, also at Angel City Yoga. She uses a lot of props and ropes to ensure not only safety but also comfort AND a real, delicious stretch. Her personality is vivacious but calming, and her spirituality infuses the class naturally. I found her through her post-natal class and now take her regular class every chance I get.

Good luck finding your class!

E. - Two Hearts Yoga in Sherman Oaks is great. It's meant for expecting/new moms and is affiliated with Black Dog yoga (they're in same building), whose owner is a YogaWorks instructor, so the style is pretty similar (if you practiced there while living in Santa Monica). I moved to Encino from Santa Monica a few years ago - a big adjustment! - but finding Black Dog and then Two Hearts (when I was pregnant) - made me feel like I'd recreated some of what I loved about SM.

Yes! Ronni Rice at Angel City Yoga in Studio City (on Ventura), across the street from the Good Earth. This woman not only shows you essential prenatal exercises, but she has lists that she keeps of great doulas, drs, etc. She gave me the best advice about pregnancy and newborns of anyone in my life -- hands down!! Check out their website for class times!
