Pregnant and on Bedrest...

I am 24 weeks pregnant and was just put on bedrest due to cervical thinning. Has anyone else had this problem and what became of it? I am worried about going into labor too soon and the viability of my baby. I am going it alone and it can get a little lonely sometimes.

What can I do next?

I didnt but my friend did, she was on bed rest, it didnt get much better so they ended up going in there and putting a "stitch" to hold it together. She was fine after that and delivered at 38 weeks :)

Hi
I have not had that experience but wanted to let you know I will pray for you and the baby. Just follow the doctors orders and stay on bedrest! Do you have anyone to help with meals?

M. T,

All I know is that when they put you on bed rest-you need to do what they say. I have seen many mommies who have had complications during pregnancy due to disobeying orders for bed rest.
Do you go to church?
The ladies in your church should be providing a support system to you. They can be there for you when you are lonely and when you need advice.
If not, please go out and find a church home. For a christian, this is your lifeline to support. You need them and they need you-God made it that way!

I am 30 weeks pregnant and due on June 20th. I was put on bedrest pretty early on due to contractions. I was finally taken off bedrest 3 days before easter sunday and then managed to break both my ankles in a fall. So I am stuck back in bed again!

Bedrest can be a lot more difficult than people would ever imagine. Everyone thinks oh it must be nice just laying in bed all day not having to do anything. The isolation can be horrible. Not to mention I am getting nothing done for the baby!!

I belong to www.babycenter.com and they have message boards that are dedicated to your due date month. I belong to the June 2008 board, and let me tell you I would have lost my mind if it had not been for those ladies. We are all like a family and talk and share everything. They are great with advice and support. If you need a shoulder to cry on there is always someone there. Babycenter also has boards dedicated to bedrest and cervical issues so you can talk to other mommies with the same experiences. Good luck and I am sure everything is going to be fine. The good news is you are already to the point where if something did happen your baby can survive outside the womb. At 27 weeks that percentage rate jumps tremendously up to 70%!!! Just stay in bed and keep baking that bundle of happiness. Trust me it is all worth it in the end.

Hi, i feel so bad for you! I know you are probably driving yourself crazy! I understand! If you ever need someone to talk even to email around let me know! Cause i'm suppose to rest as much as possible but it's kinda hard! Just be strong and try to relax as much as possible.

I had the same thing, it just means that your body is getting ready for labor. To reduc the chance of having the baby early the doctors put you on bed rest. I had my lil girl at 34 weeks and she is just full of life. Take it easy, if you have any questions feel free to ask. I had those same fears.

With both of my children I was on bedrest. With my first I started having unexplainable contractions when I was 23 weeks along and I had to stay in bed for 9 wks until my water broke at 32 wks. My placenta ruptured and caused the whole thing. My son was born at 32 wks and was strong and healthy. They had to monitor him right after he was born. He was in an oxygen tent thing to make sure his lungs were developed enough to breathe on his own. That was 5 years ago and he is a very happy and active child. With my daughter, I had placenta previa. Which is when the placenta is actually over the cervices. I started bleeding when I was up and moving around, so another 11 wks of bedrest and she was born at 34 wks. She was also strong and healthy and continues to be that way 3 years later!

I know how scary bedrest and pregnancy can be. It's a beautiful time, but there is nothing like it and so it's hard to know what's normal and what's not. And to top it off, each pregnancy is different! But, what helped me the most is my faith in the savior. It says in the scriptures that we can do all things through Christ and that God will not give us anything that can't handle. I know that each child is a son or daughter of god. Each is incredibly precious to him and when we call upon him to stregnthen us, he will.

God bless you and your precious child.
