Pregnant After Tubal Ligation

Have any of you ever gotten pregnant after a tubal ligation and when was it done when it happened? What method was used - Clip or cut? Someone told me I looked pregnant and ever since I have been pondering that comment. It's not just the regular bloated look, but a csection bulge that won't go away. I never thought about it since I had a tubal done, but now that I have had problems working that belly portion off, it bothers me now that she said that. It could be nothing to worry about, and I could go take a preg test, but I really don't want to spend $20 only to find out it is in my head, and especially when they said this should be 99% effective. Any advice to ease concerns appreciated. Thanks.

What can I do next?

I made the mistake years ago asking a woman how far along was she? She had a bloated belly and was rubbing it needless to say she wan't pregnant and was mortified. Since then no matter how pregnant a woman is I never make a comment unless she is crowning(lol). But like the others have said if it bothers you, go to the dollar store if you don't have one, wouldn't it be worth $20 for peace of mind? Good luck

You could go to the dollar store to buy the tests or you could go to the doctor.

The dollar store has pregnancy tests that are accurate. So that will give you peace of mind.
Also, if it makes you feel any better, I'm 31 and have had 3 kids and if I don't suck my stomach in all the time...I could pass for being 5 months preggo. It really sucks.
One more thing, my husband is a product of a tubal. His mother had hers "cut and seared", and 3 years later she gave birth to my husband. She knew she was preggo and went to the Dr.s twice and told them that she thought she was. They told her it was impossible and that she was just bloated. Finally after 5 months she went back and demanded the dr's test her and they were shocked to find out she was indeed preggo. That was 34 years ago.

My momhad atubal done after ahe had my younger brother, a few years later she got pregnant, she had a miscarriage. 3 years after that she got pregnant again! Tubalpregnancy that time andshe needed emergency surgery! So it is very possible to get pregnant after a tubal! Walmart has pregnancy tests for 3 dollars also.

First of all, how rude of someone to tell you that you look pregnant! Geez! Secondly, if you're paranoid about it, go to the dollar store and get a test. It's just a buck and it'll give you peace of mind. I found out about my last 3 pregnancies with them, so they do work.

My friend had a tubal in Sept.'09, and last month, she was pregnant with twins. She had severe abdominal pain, went to the ER, and had a positive urine test, and was needless to say, SHOCKED! They were ectopic and her situation was deadly. She was rushed to the OR to get them out, and while they were in there, they removed her tubes completely because in that short 10 months, they had grown completely together again. Nature is a strange thing. It amazes me what the body is capable of! Please waste the $20 for the test! You're concerns will be put at ease if it's negative!

Rudeness of comments aside (perhaps you should tell them you're glad you just look pregnant since they look downright fat ;-) It CAN happen, but it is rare. When did you have a tubal? The stories I know of -and they happened to two people I know personally, so it's not some urban legend -occurred years after the tubal procedure was done. I can't remember the procedure done on either of them, but the tubes (or at least one) grew back together. I can tell you that knowing of two instances like that, my husband got a vasectomy instead! Those grow back once in a blue moon too, but the failure rate is much slimmer -almost non-existent. Bottom line -are you missing periods? Do you feel like you have when pregnant before? If you haven't missed a period, when are you due for another one? I wouldn't worry unless I missed a period. Good luck!

I do not think that you are pregnant. How long has it been since you have had it done? Your body could take a few months to heal. You could get a cheap pregnancy test to ease your mind. You could get one for 8-10 bucks. Do not listen to other people. Now you have yourself really upset and stressed out. I have a IUD and sometimes worry if it worked or not. I have my monthly like clock work so I have to tell myself to relax also. Have a good day.

i agree, it worth the $1 at the dollar store to go get a test just to be sure! lol. I had my tubes tied last year, but i found out that it is actually more like 98% effective and after 5 years (i think, it may be 10) it goes to only 96-97% effective. is your period late? or are you not regular?
