Hey Ladies,
Need ideas for a good family vacation this year - we have a 10 year old boy, 6 year old girl, and 3 year old boy and I'm due July 31 with our 4th. We always take the kids somewhere for summer, school's out in May so we'll need to go pretty soon after that iin order for me to be able to travel. Seeing family is out of the question - I have NO DESIRE to spend a week in TX bouncing from one house to the next - it's not relaxing - the obvious places such as Disney, Cruises, etc will more than likely be out as well. Anyone have some suggestions for a prego mom, a fun loving dad and 3 great kids? we've considered a "staycation" but I'm not totally sold on that idea. Any ideas would be great! Thanks!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks for all the ideas, we live in Baton Rouge, LA (hence the reason I don't want to go to TX to visit family, like I said, it's not relaxing, bouncing from one house to the other) since we're only 4 hours from Pensacola, FL, and 51/2 from Destin, I think we'll go ahead and do the beach house. We've traveled a lot with our kids including oversees, but have never done a simple beach trip, so I think that's what we'll do. We did Disney last year for the 3rd time, and to be honest, it's soooo hot and humid in June that it's boarder line miserable that I can't even imagine what it would be like 7 months pregnant. Thanks for again for all the ideas, I hadn't even thought of the beach until now.

I love Great Wolf Lodge. The closest one to you looks to be in Tx.

Why not just spend some time driving around and taking in some sights? I don't know how long you want your vacation to last, but if it's one that you've got plenty of time for, then I'd see the sights. Take the kids to the Grand Canyon, Yellowstone National Park, Hershey Pennysylvania. You know? Not only is sight seeing fun, your kids learn something, too. And kids are easy to please. They love the chance to spend nights in hotels. Keep it simple and fun. Your kids will just be thankful that they got to spend time with mom and dad. Have a fun vacation!

Why not trying renting a cottage or a beach house? You could also check campgrounds, as many of them have cabins for rent and have many activities available.

We went to Nassau, Bahamas when I was 5 months prego and there were a TON of families there. The Atlantis resort is awesome. That's where we were and it's very child friendly.

As long as all is going well with your pregnancy, then you don't need to rule out Disney if that is an option you're really interest in. Definitely a good place for kids of all ages! I was 7 months pregnant with #3 when we went there. Of course it was October so not too hot, and that is definitely a consideration when you're that far along! Or if you wish to stay in-state, why not San Antonio or Corpus Christi or even somewhere near the water like Galveston? Those are all family-friendly places.

I would second the rent a cabin or beachhouse. Broken Bow Oklahoma has a great State park (Beavers bend) It looks about 7 hrs from you. Very relaxing. But the kids won't get bored. Horseback rides, hayrides, swimming, fishing, nature center, hiking. My kids(11, 7,4, and 1) love it, and when I was pregant with my 4th we went a couple of times. . There are lots of trees and mountains, so you'll stay cool.

My MIL rents a house on Lake Mi every summer and we have joined her a couple of times and it has been great! We spend most of the days on the beach and the evenings relaxing. You don't have to go to MI but maybe you could find somewhere close to you!
