Pregnancy Test. Should I Be Concerned?

Ok, here I am again asking pregnancy questions... there is a strong possiblilty that I am pregnant based on some symptoms I have been feeling now for 10 days, but I took a pregnancy test today which is probably 4-6 days before my period and it came out negative. I had intercourse on Sept 10 which is on or within a few days of ovulation and started getting period like cramps and low back pain about 4 days later and still have them 10 days later which is not normal for me. I only get menstrual like cramps on the first day of my period and they are usually fairly milld. This is definately not something I'm making up in my head because they hurt a lot. Is it possible that the cramps can be due to something else? Should I be concerned? I am looking for advice from those MOms that have experienced this so I can see what your experience was. Thanks so much in advance.

Thanks so much.

What can I do next?

I agree with the others, have a blood test or you will probably have to wait. I didn't get a positive test with my son until after I missed my period. With my daughter I tested positive 5 days before. Hang in there and good luck!

Take another test tomorrow AM (1st morning urine is strongest concentration of pregnancy hormone). If negative and you are still having cramps without any period, make an appt on Monday to see your Dr. Sometimes infections can cause cramping. If you are pregnant and the cramping is bothersome, you need to make sure it is not ectopic (implanted somewhere outside the uterus). This is one of life's many waiting games...no quick, sure answer. Ditto to Beth B.

I'm not saying you can't be pregnant, but the mind has a funny way of convincing the body something is true, even when it's not. Relax. Just wait. Take a test when you miss your period. There is nothing else you can do, but that...except drive yourself, and your body...crazy.

If you suspect something is actually wrong, because of these strange symptoms, please see your Dr. There are things like cysts and ectopic pregnancies (among other things) that can be serious! I don't think prolonged pain and discomfort, is something to wait out. While you're at your Dr. you can also get a blood test to ease your mind.

You don't need to be concerned. You need to be patient. You've been asking many questions about this but as many have said, time will tell. Chart your cycles to get to know your body. Once you understand how it works, you'll know earlier than later if you are pregnant by your temperatures.

I don't know your situation at all but you do keep mentioning one instance that could have resulted in pregnancy. If you are in a relationship, have fun and enjoy each other around when you are ovulating (which you will be able to pinpoint quite well if you are charting).

If your period comes or even if it doesn't and you are experiencing pain, get it checked out, of course!

You have been asking questions about this for 10 days now. It sounds like you want to be pregnant really bad, maybe you are and are experiencing symptoms, may you aren't and you are just noticing every little thing that happens because you want it to be a pregnancy. If you are pregnant, you have 9 months to find out and to plan. I know it is hard to not know this second but you need to wait to do a test for a couple more days or get a blood test.

The 1st year of our infertility issues, I did what you are doing every month. I noticed every cramp, every feeling of nausea, every discomfort in my breasts. Every month I was sure I was pregnant and then was devastated when I wasn't. Now we are at year 3 and still waiting. I don't test anymore unless I am 2 months late which hasn't happened yet. I wait because I know I have 9 months, I don't need to know today and I don't need to stress my body out worrying about it.

For me, I am happy when others announce a pregnancy on this site but it is also frustrating when people are always asking "am I pregnant?" The answer will always be to wait until you miss your period and take a test. Nothing will tell you sooner.

You are obviously concerned about this.

Go to your primary care physician and have a blood test taken to get your answer once and for all. Especially if this is not normal for you.

The cramping you describe is not normal for pregnancy. Implantation cramps only last one day (and usually only one hour) if they happen at all. These cramps may be caused by all sorts of problems, but none of them good. Go see your doctor please. Two weeks is too long to be in pain and not go.

If you're still 4-6 days before you're period, you might be trying too soon. I usually wait until I miss my period to check. And sometimes the line is VERY light. So, 4-6 days before a period the line might not show at all.

Your dr can always do a blood test. That's how I found out I was prego with my first. I was sick and needed some meds. The dr wanted to rule out pregnancy. I knew there was some chance I was prego, but I hadn't even missed my period. Anyway, I was pregnant!

So, I suggest either waiting until you actually miss...or go see a dr.

possibly you have a etopic pregnancy and its in a part of the tube that is more sensitive. Have you had history of ovarian cysts? These can cause pain and cramping sometime severe. However you very may well be pregnant and just do not have enough hormone to make the test positive yet. Wait for one more week. Then re-test. If the pain is really too bad I would then not hesitate to go to a doctor for a look see and get your mind at rest.

its a little soon to take a test. it take a little while for the hormones to build up. I know you may be getting anixious but try waiting intill at least the day your period is due.
