Can you make yourself have "pregnancy" symptoms?
I have not been feeling well lately, I do want to have a baby but if it doesn't happen now that would be okay.I have been really nauseated, dizzy, and going pee alot.I took a home test which came out negative, I am wondering if it is all in my head? The doctor took a pee test which also came out negative but told me to come back in a couple of weeks if the symptoms do not change and he will do a blood test. I am was thinking he just didn't want to come out and say your crazy. Please help!

What can I do next?

If you really feel strongly that you are pregnant, make the Dr. do a sono & blood test. On the other hand, I knew a women one time that wanted a baby so bad she actually started lactating and never was pregnant (but that is very rare)

For me, change in hormones levels causes the same symptoms you are experiencing (except for peeing a lot). I'm on birth control, but went off for about a week to switch methods and I had the symptoms you described (I was scared b/c I started thinking I got pregnant while on birth control). If you have switched to a stronger or lower dose that could explain it. Since it's hot, you are most likely drinking more water which could explain why you are going more often. Either way, I hope it turns out the way you want it to. :-)

no you are not crazy!! things too look for early signs of pregnancy are being nauseated, swollen breast and blueish (darker than normal) lines, nasal congestion, fatigue (sp?) and i mean the tired where you don't want to get up, mood swings...crying for no reason or getting mad at little things, and ofcourse the tride and true late period. you can go to planned parenthood and have a hCG test done. it had to do with the levels of your hormones...they can do it now. reguardless of how far along you are or aren't your hormones WILL have gone up if you are. anyway if you need anything else that i didn't blab...lol...about you can e mail me at ____@____.com Good luck with the whole thing!!

Should you have already started? I was for sure I was pregnant. I felt thte same way you did after what would have been 3 weeks after conception. I took two at home tests that both turned out negative, but then I took another a few days later as a long shot and I was pregnant! I had apparently miscalulated when I was supposed to start and still found out early. A blood test, however, would be the most conclusive answer.

Catrina, When I was pregnant with my first child, I was horribly ill. I went to the doctor and took a urine test and it came out negative. I was so sick, I told the doctor I new I was pregnant. He finally did a pelvic exam and sure enough, I was.

Can you make yourself have symptons? I believe your desire to have a child is a strong emotion and can cause your body to conform to your desire. I think a pelvic exam will tell you for sure. Hang in there and good luck!

The Nauseating and dizzy feeling could also be from the heat. You can feel light headed. Take another home test in a week and see what your results are. Some tests work better when you are aroud 5 weeks pregnant. Go see your obgyn. They can do another urine sample and blood test and of course there's always a sonogram. My doctor was able to tell me I was pregnant just by feeling (inside). She could tell that my uterus was bigger than it usually is. She thought I was about 6 weeks. I went back for a sonogram a week later and found out that I was 7 weeks plus a few days pregnant.

Good Luck either way. =)

If this is something that is a major topic in your house right now (if you are trying) I think you look deeper into symtoms than normal. If you keep having the symptoms I would defintely follow up with your doctor because when you take the pregnancy test you have to miss a period before they can tell whether you are pregnant or not. You may be too early for the test to detect. (Prob why your doctor is suggesting a blood test) I hope this turns out how you want.

You are not crazy!! Girl, this has happened to me as well as a few of my friends. Honestly, it probably happens to more women than we know. They just dont want to talk about it for fear of judgment because let's face it, it does sound crazy!! I truly believe that it is a "mind game." You sound like you want to get pregnant so maybe your mind is telling your body that. I dont really have an explanation, but please know that you are not alone!!! Kudos to you for actually talking about it.

I know how you feel I did or felt the same thing before I acutally got pregnant. I thought I was crazy because I thought I was really pregnant because we had been trying for a few months. Well my home test came out positive and the dr. one was negetive and then I started, which was pretty late??? I don't really know what to tell you but I think some how it can be in your head well thats how I felt. But Luckly the next month we stoped trying cause I felt like a crazy person feeling something that wasn't there and I got pregnant. Everyone told me to stop trying and I thought why? I want a baby and you have a better chance I thought but I guess they where right, we stoped and it happened. I think if you just relaxe a little and don't stress out so much, I know it is hard. Good luck with every thing.

Well Catrina I have been pregnant 3 times, I have 1 son and I had 2 miscarriages. I had different "pregnancy" symptoms with all 3, but the one symptom that I had every time was sore breasts, that is the tell tale sign for me. Good luck either way.

Just to let you know I had a negative pregnancy test the first time. I did it a week and a half later and in the morning and it was positive. My boobs hurt a lot too. Just be patient and go back to the doc soon!

I learned in college that there is a condition called "hysterical pregnancy"--where one is so desperate to be pregnant or so afraid thinking she may be pregnant that it produces symptoms. Of course any disturbance in a woman's hormones can produce many symptoms of pregnancy or mimic other conditions. Suggest you check with your doctor for tests--a full hormone panel and thyroid panel as these two interact. The average MD usually does not do an indepth panel---to get a full panel, I recommend Dr. Katherine Henry--she is at the Environmental Health Center on Walnut Hill in Dallas.

I had a negative pregnancy test and have a beautiful 13 yr old son. I was not very late, and New Year's was coming, and I did not want to drink if I was pregnant. A couple of weeks later, the test was positive.

Have you been pregnant before? I always tease my friends with strong symptoms that it is "your body trying to reject the testosterone. It must be a boy". Ha-ha.

I think you're right! The hormone in your urine is pretty strong when you're pregnant. Most home tests will pick it up. I'm pretty sure you'll start soon!

Catrina,
The same thing happen to me last year, the difference is I really wanted to get pregnant badly. I felt nauseous in the morning, was very tired during the day and I could swore my belly was swelling. I bought two pregnancy tests and took them a week apart from one another; both were negative.
I wasn't pregnant at all and I had almost all the symptoms!
Anyways, I'm not saying you aren't preg. but I just wanted to let you know that things like this happen!
The best of luck to you whatever the results are :0)
