Pregnancy Diarrhea?

Way too much information, but I need advice! Last Monday, I had horrible diarrhea. Everything we fine, more on Wed. Everything was fine, and then Saturday came. I've had diarrhea since. Last night I decided it was time to raid my kids supply of pedialyte, and today I am trying to only eat toast, but I feel tired and starved! I am just so darn hungry! The only bananas I have are too green ;-(

I've been eating a ton of fruit lately, especially since our garden is throwing tons of tomatoes at us. Could I have just overdone the "good stuff"?

I'm going to keep trying to rest my gut, but I am starving. Ideas on food? I was going to make a curry for dinner, so there will be rice. Should I stay away from everything but the plan jasmine rice?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

I talked to my midwife's assistant this morning and she says it's probably my tomatoes from the garden! She had the same problem when she was pregnant a few summers ago. So it's a bug of some sort.

I would just stick to bananas, rice (plain), applesauce, and toast (BRAT diet) and yogurt as tolerated. You could also do a probiotic supplement. Drink plenty of water. It does sound like maybe you overdid it on the good stuff, as you say, but it makes sense to just lay off anything that could stress your guts any more than they already are. Don't take anything without first asking your doctor for approval, since some antidiarrheal meds are bad to take while pregnant. This is TMI, but you may want to start using witch hazel and/or vaseline on your bum until all this subsides. I had bad diarrhea when pregnant and it became very painful after awhile and this helped me tremendously. Hope you feel better soon :)

I remember that fruit would give it to me when I was pregnant. Also, you could have eaten something that didn't agree with you. I bet it is just too much of the "good stuff". You could try some fibercon or bulk-forming fiber. It is actually the best cure for diarrhea I know of. I bet it will help. And, I don't see any reason not to eat, but I would stay away from spicy and fatty foods. Those can make it worse. If you are unsure, call your ob and just talk to the medical assistant. I bet they have some good advice if it will make you feel better. Remember, this too shall pass!

You can call the doctor of course, but tomatoes and fruits have a lot of acid in them and could do it.

How far along are you? I would call the doc.

You don't say how far along you are and that has a lot to do with the answer.
If you are in the first trimester, then just got a touch of a stomach bug, call the doc and see if they want you to come in.
In second trimester it may be stomach bug or it might be an issue with blood sugars so call the doc.
In third trimester, lots of women have this as the only sign that labor is about to come.
I personally got really sick that way the day before I got diagnosed with Pre-eclempsia. I just felt off as well.
