I had a tubal ligation done over 2 yrs ago right after my 4th child was born. I have missed my last 2 periods, and now I am being to experience pregnancy like symptons now. I have the nausea all day and the frequent urination. Have any of you other mom's gotten pregnant after having a tubal ligation? I took one home pregnancy test last thursday, and it was negative. Would the test still show a positive result if it were a tubal pregnancy? I'm going to take another home test this week, and see if the results are still the same. I don't have health insurance right now, so I can't go see a doctor. Any input from other mothers would be greatly appreciated,

What can I do next?

I know people who were conceived at least a few years after their moms had tubal ligations, so it is possible.

If you don't have insurance, look in your phone book and see if there are any area pregnancy centers, either crisis centers or public health clinics. Here we have several centers that offer services to women who are unexpectedly pregnant, including testing and early ultrasound. If you continue to have symptoms, try another home test (sometimes hormone levels are lower even with a normal pregnancy). I believe a tubal pregnancy sometimes might not have a positive test. Either way, if you miss another period, definitely find a clinic.

A pregnancy test should be accurate for a tubal pregnancy, since it measures levels of hormones. Are there any free clinics in your area for a checkup? Like Planned Parenthood?

Do a search on this site for this subject. It's come up a lot! YES, you can get pregnant after having your tubes tied, although it is rare. I do personally know of two cases where it happened. I agree with the other post --look up a Planned Parenthood where they'll see you on a sliding fee scale so you can at least know for sure!

My mom had a tubal and it did bring on early menopause, when you have one it cuts off the majority of blood supply to your ovaries and can cause this. On the other hand you may want to find out exactly what kind of tubal you had. A friend of mine when she had hers done the drs only tied one tube. Well you guessed it she ended up pregnant a few months later and out came number 4! She loves her little guy but the dumb dr was completely free from any liability because of his stupidity. This was a type of ligation they did a few yrs back. Her son is 6 now.

Hi C., you don't say how old you are but many people believe a tubal can bring on early menopausal symptoms which in my case seems to be true. Had a tubal at 31, started perimenopause at 42. At the very least, it does change your hormones.

Go to a local clinic-like planned parenthood. They may be able to do an exam or a blood test for you to see if you are pregnant. If you are nausea all day you could also have a gall bladder issue or urinary tract infection. Rule out pregnancy first and take it from there. Good luck
