My son who is now 4 years old attends Primrose Preschool.
I would like to begin practicing his writing skills at home to prepare him for school.

Has anyone used any kind of workbooks they can recommend? I am looking for a workbook where he can practice tracing over the letters.

Anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks,
N.

Hi:
Check out Lakeshore Learning. It's on Kennedy between Louis and (?)Westshore. It'd a teacher supply store. They have tons of cool stuff beyond workbooks. They're having a huge sale right now. I teach kinder and buy tons of stuff there for the classroom and my own young kids. :-)

Hi N.,

I use I Can Write by Discovery Toys. It's not a workbook, but rather a trace, practice, wipe-off system that can be used over & over again. Each letter of the alphabet has it's own wipe off card with the upper & lowercase letter, a picture of something that starts with the letter & a word that starts with the letter written in English, Spanish & French. My daughter is 4 1/2 & loves it! She thinks it's more of a game than "work" and has fun learning how to write her letters. I am a Discovery Toys consultant and can get you more information if you're interested.

hi, my daughter is 4 and i started her writing at 2. i used the work books from wal-mart. they have wipe and rewrite kind with markers. also a great assortment of other preschool books, shapes colors, letters and beginning words. my daughter has been reading since she was 3 and her hand writing is neat when i remind her to write properly. i was a stay at home mom for 4 years and i had nothing else to do but teach her and i found at 2 & 3 yrs old they learn so much so fast and enjoy learning.

I know about a perfect program. You can go to a workshop in Florida or you can go online. It is a great program that is used by Occupational therapist, teachers, and homeschoolers. Check out Handwriting without Tears. It is wonderful!!!!
