Potty Training Suggestions - McKinney,TX

I use what's called a "Family Toilet Seat" on the toilet in my home daycare and plan on buying more when my daughter is older for every toilet in my house. It's a toilet seat that replaces your existing seat. It has a regular seat for adults and a small, kid-sized seat all hinged together with the lid. The kid-sized seat fits into the lid when not in use, but can just be pulled down when needed. I love it because it's sturdy for the kids to sit on, they can pull it down all by themselves and adults can still use the toilet without having to figure out where to put the potty seat. I have an elongated bowl also, but found my Family Seat online at Target. Didn't find them when I searched just now, but here's a few links I did find. Good luck!

my daughters just learned to prop themselves up with their hands on the toliet. we didn't use the potty seat long at all. There are too many times when you don't have one. (in public, at other people's houses, our downstairs bathroom)

I got a toilet insert called potette. It works nicely on our elongated toilets.
I picked it up at Babies R Us.

Try this--let him sit backwards on the toilet! I did this with my son and I think he felt more secure that way. He can steady himself on the tank and you might not need a potty ring at all.

Also--be prepared for putting in lots more time of asking/reminding. I still tell my 7yo to "go pee"!

Our son never used a potty chair - we had one, but he preferred to sit on the toilet using a stool and prop himself up. He was potty-trained for months before he preferred standing at the toilet.

Because you don't have a potty seat in public places, I'd recommend starting to focus on teaching him to hold the side of the toilet and prop himself up. Of course, you'll have to wipe the seat down in public places and make sure to wash his hands/sanitize them appropriately afterwards. But, it teaches them rather than getting them accustomed to something that won't be there all the time.

We had to take our son on regular intervals in the beginning and still have to force the issue a lot now that he's almost 4. He gets engrossed in things and simply doesn't want to stop to go to the bathroom - hence how he pooped himself last night.
