Potty Training Accidents-what to Do with the Clothes??

I feel like I should know this already since I've already potty-trained one child but he just didn't have the frequency of accidents we're experiencing now with my daughter.
My question is, what do I do with her wet clothes/underwear?? I don't want to do a load of laundry every time she has an accident (she has one about once a day, in the evening when she gets lazy). But what do I do with the wet things so they don't get really smelly and gross? I sometimes rinse them out but with the increasing humidity, nothing is drying in a timely manner. Do you add anything to your washing machine to help with the smell? Vinegar maybe?
She'll only tell me she has to go if she's wearing underwear so using a diaper or pull-ups to prevent messes isn't an option. She doesn't have trouble doing #2 on the potty so thankfully that clean-up isn't an issue.
Thank you!

What can I do next?

My daughter had accidents all the time at school. They would wrap them up in the grocery bags, we take them home and I honestly would for get about them until it was time to wash. I would open them up, and wow what a smell. The smell washed out just fine. (For my older boy who wets the bed, we used vinager to keep the smell out. )

I kept a small load of water in my washer all day long (old fashioned top load) with the lid up so it wouldn't cycle...and tossed the yucky clothes in and ran it at the end of the day...or every other day.

Don't know what you do with a front load washer...

When I went through this with my twins (yes at the same time....) I would just rinse them off and hang them on the bathtub and when it was time to do laundry I would grab them and I have used the Oxi packs (they look like the dishwasher tablets) and Tide just came out with some and they work even better!!

My Granny used to keep a small bucket with bleach water in it next to her washing machine. This was for things that needed to be washed, but were not enough to make a full load. - While bleach water may not work for your daughter's clothing - maybe "laundry soap water" - something to keep them from smelling and getting moldy until you have enough for a full load.

Just a random thought.

We keep a bin in the laundry room for pooped or peed on clothes. Then we wash them as loads go through. We haven't had any issues with them smelling like pee, and we don't use bleach or rinse them out (we do toss poop in the toilet).

I would keep an extra "wet bag" or something like that in the bathroom to toss them in...to keep the smell contained...and then just toss them in the laundry with the appropriate load and let them wash. I never had any trouble with lingering smell...of course I did a load of laundry at least every other day so it didn't have much of a chance to set in .
I would be hesitant to use bleach water unless it is just her underwear and is a light enough color that you don't care if it is bleached out.

How about keeping a bucket of water with just a bit of bleach in it? You can toss the clothes in the wash when you're ready to do a load.
And good for you for not using pull ups, hooray!!!

We are using plastic pants over underwear for our son (he is 2.5) and he is doing really well but we still have the occasional pee-pee accident. We told him once he starts telling us he has to go pee (instead of us just sitting him on the toilet every 2 hours) then he won't have to wear the plastic pants anymore. It makes for less leakage and cleanup. We rinse the clothes in our utility sink and put them over the edge then toss them in with whatever load we do next. Kids' laundry is done Mondays and ours is over the weekend so sometimes they will sit there a few days.

Good luck with potty training! It is so hard that each of them are so different -- I know!

I would try to put the clothes on the side so at least they dried first so other things don;t get wet and maybe moldy. When my son would wet the bed I started using vinegar in the wash and is really helps get out smells. I still use it for sheets and towels. No more stale smell after a few days of sitting in the closet. The clothes do not smell like vinegar. And it is cheap.

Add white vinegar to your wash it will take the urine smell out. Maybe have a bucket with water and vinegar in it that the clothes can soak in until you're ready to wash.

I just rinse them out and keep them seperate from the other clothes. I have a bucket that I keep them in until I do laundry. You will drive yourself crazy if you washed everytime.

Depending on how often you do laundry, get a small pail, fill it with water and detergent, rinse the soiled clothing as usual and then let it soak in the solution until time to do laundry. To make it even easier, you can simply dump the contents of the pail, (water included), into the machine and then run the spin cycle to get the soaking water out before you wash. Those of us who had babies before the age of throw away diapers or chose to use cloth diapers have found this method to be very adequate.

My daughter has an accident at least once a day, I used to rinse them every time, now I just don't even bother, I use oxi clean in every load and I have no smells lingering. I do laundry every 3 days I think.
