I dont know what to do, his mother blames me for it b/c he is with me during the day but I try and he just wont. I put him on every 30 minutes and nothing happens. I told his Mom if she dosent help they will let him go to daycare he will be 4 in june. Any advice?

What can I do next?

Hiya,
I found the one thing that none of the experts tell you is that kids can't and won't be completely potty trained until THEY are ready...not us, not daycare, not society...
That being said try to be consistant, set up "schedules" so when he is ready he'll have a good base to build on...You set the rules, but basically he sets the schedule...
At least that has been my, and my friends experience...
Best wishes,
B.

Dont use pull ups or diapers - stick him in regular underware (something fun) maybe use plastic overpants if you want. When they feel the results...they go potty. Also, place poop from the diaper/pants, etc in the potty so he knows that it is ok to put it in there. We used a trip for ice cream once the deed was done-bribes work well at that age. I know the mess of wearing underware is awful but if you are taking him every 1/2 hour it shouldnt be bad. He simply may not be ready-remind his mom that he wont still be craping his pants when he is 18 so chill out - it'll happen when it happens.

There's a great video you can buy called "Once Upon a Potty". There's a girl and boy version. My daughter was using the potty after two days of watching the video. GOOD LUCK!

Potty Train is the must frustrating thing on the world. My son was almost 4 when he learn potty train and I try everything single thing on the books. I will tell you what work for me. I made to drawers for him: one for pull-ups and another one with regular under wear and he is the one who choose what he want to wear so if you pushing so much he will never learn. You need to let go by himself and he will learn when he is ready. The only thing you will ask him on the mornings is what you want to wear today: big boy underwear or babies pull-ups? Good luck!

I'd talk about it, really ham it up
& then go buy underwear together & have him pick it out
Elmo is King in this house LOL!
then, do you 'see' him pooping in his diaper? you could maybe try & point it out and get him to use the potty/
or, when you're in the store buying the underwear you could also buy a toilet seat cover/insert for the toilet, too- really make a big deal over it- how he's so big & he's too big even for a little potty...stuff like that...
make it fun
make it routine- like ok, go pee before your nap
ok it's after nap time, let's go pee- like that...

then when he dose do it, make a BIG deal over it- clap, sing, you name it!

The reward system works pretty well. My daughter took to stickers (not putting them on the chart, she wanted to keep them) and I got her a set of little dolls (12) and she got one each time...first it started with #1, then it was #2 and eventually she didn't need prizes any more.

Good luck...and his mom really needs to help too, or it wont work!

boys are slower. there are some research articles on why boys have trouble with pooping. some suggest that they like to keep it. like property. i had a hard time with my son and he finally started to poop right before 3 1/2 . so here is what i did. I got a book on pooping. i read it to him. then on day, when he was sitting on the toilet, I got a warm rag and placed it on his lower back and then in the front. it was warm...NOT HOT. I also massaged his lower back before to relax him. That was his first poop in the toilet. we had a mini "you are a big boy party" very mini.
i let him name it and flush it. ok , that sounds strange but it worked for both of my boys. naming ...like..."wow, that's a fish, or whale or dolphin."

My son is about 3 1/2 and has just passed the potty trained for #1 in about the last 2 months, still working on #2. I just had to wait till it was time and something else to kinda enforce it was-he had plain white underware & didn't like to wear them but he loves trucks & cars so we went to Walmart & I told him he could have the "Cars" underware if he promised to wear them and no more pull-ups. Within 3 days we were going #1 in the potty everytime (unless distracted) and he would tell me on his own when he had to go. It just seemed to take something he really wanted/liked to get him into it. We are working on the #2 and are getting better at it and the night pull-ups are staying dry 5 out of 7 nights now. All kids are different but the average age I was told for boys was between the ages of 3 & 4. Good luck & ya'll will get there soon.
