Dear R.,

My kids really loved the "Once Upon A Potty" DVD and book. It was like a light bulb went off in their head, "Aha, so that's what I am supposed to do!" It has a really catchy song, too. My, now three year old, daughter was potty-trained by 19 mos.

Blessings,
D.

We started training our son when he was 18 months old. All we did was read to him until he used the potty. Then he started using the potty quickly after the reading started. Good Luck!

My son had problems starting out and to prevent accidents, we would offer him a treat. He knew that when he went potty, he would get something special. Wasn't anything big, usually just a favorite treat or snack that he didn't get on a regular basis. That was exciting to him and it worked well for us. Good luck!

I think if she continues to see you going to the potty, she will eventually get it. When she poops, you can show her as you put the poop in the potty and tell her that "Poop goes in the potty". Is she staying dry? Is she really ready? I have had the potty in our bathroom for months and my 2 year old isn't interested in it yet. All she does is take the seat off. She will sit on it, but I think she is just doing it because she sees me and her older sister using the big potty. Good luck!
