I have just started potty training my two year old ( she will be 2 June 28th). Does anybody have any ideas to make this easy? I already have two i have already trained, but it has been 10 years ago since then. It seems though i am a little rusty on how to do it.

What can I do next?

I personally waited a little longer to start the training, and just tried to make it all a matter of big-kid pride. I let my oldest help pick out the potty seat (she chose one that sat on the floor beside the big toilet) and she was proud to be using it. I don't remember using food as a reward, but we had a sticker chart. Good luck.

I feel your pain! Every child is different, but heres what worked for someone I know. They bought a lady bug egg timer, and set it for 30 minutes. It makes it kind of like a game. When the timer goes off she makes a big deal, and they run off to the potty. If she doesn't they reset the timer for 15 minutes, and if she sees her acting funny she makes the timer go off. Last week when we went to town I asked what happens if the timer goes off on the way to town? She responded I pretend set it and then really make it go off when we get to our first stop. I thought this was clever. Maybe it will help!

Hey B.,
Potty training can be very hard and very easy depending on how much patience you have. I was starting to train my godchild when he started walking, however since he does not live with me it was more harder. What I did start doing to make him want to go is buy a toilet that congratulated him on going. Most children need praise everytime they do something. The potty allowed me to record what I wanted him to hear. For example, when he finished it said Good job David, good job. He was happy to hear his name so he was willing to go to the potty when he needed to. Also there was a specific time that he went at my house. He went right after he ate and before he took a nap. Good luck

My girl loved a simple sticker chart. Every time she had success she got to pick out her own sticker and put it on that day's block. At the end of the week or time frame she would get something special. Either a toy special book or time with mom. It didn't take long for her to get the hang of it.

There are as many opinions about potty training, as there are mothers and grandmothers out there... lol. And, imho, not all of them work equally well for all children. Go with your mommy instincts and it will come back to you. Remember to stay positive about the whole process: cheer the successes (or even near successes), and ignore the accidents- (not literally, but don't make a big deal, they're just a part of the process, lol) try stickers if they seem to motivate your child. We never used them. We just kept a ziploc bag of individually wrapped lifesavers that the kids could pick from when they were successful. Once they begin to get the idea, get rid of the pull-ups except for nighttime... get the cloth training pants (as a reward ?).. they can FEEL if they have an accident a lot better.
Do a crazy "potty dance" when she has success on the potty. Make it a fun time...
And congratulations on this next big step! (Don't let anyone tell you she is too young... kids are all different.. my SON was trained by his 3rd birthday... and it wasn't a STRUGGLE either).
As far as EASY,... well... lol....

Oh, and you might try getting a seat that fits onto the toilet. My son never liked the little potty chairs, but he was uncomfortable on the full sized seat. If your daughter likes the little chairs, then keep one out where it is convenient for her to get to when she is playing. And you might want to keep her in dresses without the under bloomer thingees... it'll be easier and quicker for her to get on the potty.
