**update**I wore the sundress with shawl. I felt that the interview went well. There was only one other person being interviewed. And they chose them for the position. So I am still a stay at home momma.
I am disappointed. But I will try again another time.
The original substitute position was filled while I was waiting on the teacher to find out. But at the same time a different building principal called me to see if I wanted to interview for a permanent aid spot. I would have plenty of time to drop my kids off at one school and drive to the other for work and I would get off one hour before them so plenty of time to run home and clean for a minute or toss a load of laundry in.. The second school sits between my house and where my kids go to school. I accepted the interview. It's tomorrow. But all I own is active wear and winter clothing with a sundress or two.. So what do I wear for a public school district aid position interview?
All 3 sundresses have at least an inch over the shoulders and one has a 3/4 length sleeve shrug that matches. ( black and white) the forecast is for a 90 degree day, and schools have no air so a sweater or jacket might be too warm.
The black sundresss with white flowers and shrug should work with some simple flat shoes that have a metal button thing on them so not super fancy but not plain either.. would that work? I hope so
Do you have a nice pair of slacks? If so, get a nice shirt, pair with the pants and add a sweater or jacket. Or if you have a nice sweater set that works as well.

Don't fool yourself about having time between work and school!! :) I thought that one time myself!
Do you have one of those short-sleeve sweaters that you can wear over a sundress? If so, I would just do that.
If not, I would go to the store tonight and look for a simple, long skirt and nice top to go with it.
You don't need to go crazy and wear a suit, but you do need to dress one step higher than what the teachers and aids usually wear to school.
At our school, teachers often wear pants, capris, sometimes jeans (every school has different rules about that), sandals. That's fine once you have the job, but I would try to dress a little nicer for the interview.
Take a cue from how the current aides and teachers dress. I mostly wore jeans and skirts. Basically nice “mom” clothes. Good luck! ETA: for the interview a simple dress or slacks and a blouse.
If you don't have time to shop, the sundresses are fine if you have a shrug or bolero type cover up. If you don't have that, do you have a nice silky or satiny large scarf you can drape and pin in the front with a nice clip or brooch? I had some nice sundresses and they would look dressed up with a lace bolero jacket I had. Wear decent flats or dressy strappy sandals. Do not wear jeans or workout clothes.
I assume the sundress is a strappy number. Do you have a nice, solid colored shirt/top you can put underneath, kind of like this: https://www.thefashionpolice.net/wp-content/uploads/2013/...? If so, that takes care of the interview outfit issue, with no additional cost to you. You need to look semi professional so dress slacks, a nice shirt, and a blazer of sweater. If you don't have correct clothes then hit up the nearest consignment shop. I use to get all my work clothes from consignment.

I think it is good experience, and says a lot that you were asked to apply - and it was a warm up to better things/position/fit next time. Sorry you didn't get it, but now you know you want something. So you will be open to the possibilities and opportunities. Go out and find an outfit you'll truly be comfortable in for the next call up, and have it ready and hanging in your closet :) It will happen lady! They know you're interested!

Don't worry too much about the clothing. I think what you're suggesting below (sundress with shrug) is totally fine :) Think about position - working with kids and being presentable. It will be acceptable!
