My husband and I are trying for baby #2. I've been off all my medication since November (birth control, migraine meds etc) and my last period was Dec. 4th. The past week I have been extremely nauseous so I was thinking maybe I was pregnant so I took a pregnancy test and it was negative. But the nausea and tiredness has gotten worse the past couple of days. Yesterday when I went to the bathroom there was a little brown blood/mucus when I wiped. Early this morning there was bright red blood, not very much and again just when I wiped. Now there is nothing when I wipe. When I was pregnant with my daughter 7 yrs ago I was nauseous my entire pregnancy and took a urine pregnancy test that was negative the day I went to the Dr. and the blood test was positive. They said my HGC levels were just really low. Is there a possibility I could be pregnant even with the bright red blood earlier this morning? I called the Dr. and left a message for the nurse. One of the on-line calculators said to try another pregnancy test on the 1st, which I will do if I don't have any more bleeding and the nausea is still there. Has anyone had this happen before and what was the result? Thank-you!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thank-you everyone for your input. I started bleeding heavier so I seriously doubt I am pregnant. :( I have never had nausea or cramping with my periods before- well the first period after my daughter was born was horrible but other than that, nothing. I hope to get pregnant soon and if not then I hope I don't have anymore nausea with the periods, it is bad enough the entire pregnancy. Thanks again!

Just give it a few days. I know you are anxious if you are 'trying' but it is still a bit early. Not much to do right now. Your triage nurse will too tell you this. Your period is not due until tomorrow. Give it at least two days of being late. Try to wait until the 2 or 3rd and test 1st thing in the morning. Novemeber to now is even very quick. If you get prenant that fast, you are really blessed! Allow yourself to first "Be Late" and then test. The blood you saw could be one of two things; eithr your period starting (it is due right now) or cell division and attempted implantation. Which is it? You will not know for a few days. HOLD TIGHT; stop giving the pregnancy test company more money and stop that toliet paper testing! (LOL)..... I tell my patients they are not allowed to look at toliet paper from the time they are trying to concieve until 10 weeks. Then again from 36 weeks until delivery, NO toliet paper looking.... Keep us posted. You have a child so number 2 will come soon enough!

I am not saying you aren't pregnant but keep in mind that you just came off of the pill too. It may take a few months to get your cycle back on track and you might be spotting a few days before your cycle actually starts just because your body isn't use to not having the medication regulating the shedding of your uterus lining. Some women will also experience nausea a few days before they start their cycle due to hormonal changes. I know I will get nauseated sometimes before my cycle and sometimes when I ovulate due to hormonal changes. Best of luck and I hope you get pregnant soon if not already pregnant.

I had implantation bleeding with my first that was a few days before my expected period, brownish/pink then red when I wiped -- then nothing. I finally took a test 5 days later when my real period didn't come and I was pregnant. Of course, sometimes I also spot before my periods so I didn't think anything out of the ordinary when that implantation bleeding showed up...till the period never came. Good luck!

Peppermint and ginger are excellent for nausea. Make yourself some tea, suck on a peppermint, etc. I don't have any advice for you about the other, but I DO know about nausea issues. There are also other things you can take for nausea that are NOT meds and you don't want to anyway if you're pregnant.

I had some of the same thing going on when I was preg. with my second child. I couldn't stay away either just going for a drive 30 min away, I also had tp blood. I refuesed to think I was pg. we stopped trying after a year. My first test negative my second negative all in two diffrent weeks and after I realized i didn't have my period for a month and was onto month two. The blood test comformed I was pg. I read some of the other responses I liked Michelle quit giving the companys your money save it for the future baby! Good luck!!

You probably have your answer by now, but there is a possibility. I had the same thing happen when I was pregnant. I tested negative for pregnancy with the urine tests a good two weeks after my missed period but the blood test came back positive. I now have a healthy 15 yr. old from the pregnancy. The explanation for the brief spotting? My midwife said it could be for many reasons, perhaps a blood vessel ruptured when the placenta was developing and attaching. If spotting and bleeding continue, obviously seek medical attention. Good luck!

Well I haven't had any personal experience with it, but my mom did ages ago. She was also pregnant with her second child and took several tests and none were positive but she just had that feeling that she was pregnant. She went to the doctor and the blood test was positive.

I believe you can be pregnant even with a bit of blood (like if you have sex the night before, you may bleed due to rough sex, sorry if thats TMI) but also remember that there is a possibility that you may not be. Your best bet I think is to either wait a bit longer to take another test, or go see the doctor.
Good luck!

It sound like you're talking about implantation bleeding, Which means you were experiencing nausea BEFORE implantation?? If implantation just happened, then you were just them starting to produce this hormone. You don't produce HCG until the baby implants into your uterine wall. Therefore, you would not have pregnancy symptoms, until you implant and begin producing HCG. I'm not saying that you aren't pregnant. You very well could be. I'm saying, that the nausea you felt couldn't be from pregnancy.
