Positive Version Experiences

Our second baby is enjoying the breached position right now and has been for quite awhile. We have been trying many things to help baby turn, praying, and thinking/talking to baby positively about turning but he/she is enjoying how they are sitting. We have an ultrasound on Tues to see if baby has still not turned and at that point, if babe has not turned, we will talk about scheduling a version or c-section. Our doctor would give me an epidural before doing the version and when it worked, would induce so baby cannot turn back. He is also one to not try to turn baby for a long time and believes that if baby will turn, babe will turn easily. Doc will not try to turn for a long period of time. I have read plenty of horror stories about versions but just wondering if there are some of you that have experienced positive versions or even if it did not work, would do it again to try to turn baby. I would like to read some positive stories before we would have one if baby does not turn. I would like to stay away from a c-section if possible because of our very active two year old girl.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Well, our baby did not want to turn no matter what we tried. We had the version Tuesday morning but our doctor only got baby turned a quarter of a turn. We ended up having a c-section and had a beautiful baby girl!! We have been enjoying her a lot and having fun getting big sis to not help so much! I am glad that I tried the version since my doctor only tried twice and for only about 10 minutes with a few minutes of doing nothing in that time frame.

Hi S.,

Hope I'm not too late with my response...two of my pregnancies were breach. My second child was a footling breach, the OB tried an external version, but after manipulating/pushing for ten minutes or so, he noticed on an ultrasound that my son was positioned with his head tipped back (a position in which he still sleeps sixteen years later!) and he said "I'll never get this baby to turn." A C-section was scheduled, but I went into labor before the scheduled date and delivered that footling breach (something I'm told they would never allow today because of the risks). My fourth pregnancy was also breach...and this time the version worked and I delivered normally a few weeks later. It's not a pleasant experience, but neither is it painful or traumatic...at least it wasn't for me.

Hope this helps in some way. Best wishes to you and blessings to you and your precious family,
A.

Here's some hope.

I had a ultrasound done and baby was breach, I was moved into another room for a stress test, they couldn't find baby so the grabbed a portable ultrasound machine to just find baby quick so they could do the stress test. In that small amount of time my baby went from breach to headdown that's why they couldn't find her. So anything is possible.

Also I've had 2 c-sections and it was a piece of cake for me. Week 1 was bad but I was back to normal buisness by week 2.

I'm not really answering your question--but have you seen the Spinning Babies website? My nurse midwife (a Nurse Practitioner) recommended it when my son was lying horizontally in my womb. I did one of the exercises, and at my next appt., he had turned and stayed in position. I don't know off the top of my head the name of the exercise I did... Let me know if you want more info.

Also, a good chiropractor that is experienced with prenatal work might be able to help you...

I don't mean to give you advice you don't want, but it sounds like you want to stay away from a c-section. Whatever path you choose, good luck to you.

Our childbirth teacher advised to get on your hands and knees and do pelvic rocks. This had painlessly done the trick for many.
Good luck and enjoy your growing family!

I am a chiropractor in Franklin, WI. I am certified in the Webster technique - which is used to help relax ligaments in your pelvis which sometimes can help turn the babies. Find someone in your area that is certified and try that if you can?????

Good luck in whatever you chose!
