I was wondering if any one has used Portrait Innovations in Kildeer or Glenview or Kiddie Kandids at Babies R Us. I would like to get my sons 3 month pictures taken and thought I would try the inexpensive route to see how they turn out. Any other suggestions are welcome such as JCPenny etc.

What can I do next?

We have gone to Kiddie Kandids for all my kids pictures. I have a 18 month old and a 3 year old. They have a birthday club which is free, you can view the specials online. You can also print off coupons on their website. During the first two years, I had my kids pics taken every three/four months. I would never spent over $150, got the disc with all the pictures on it and got to take the pictures home the same day. We go to the one in Niles. We are always happy with them and usually get our Christmas cards there too:)

Hi, Amy,

I just had my son's 3 month portraits taken at Portrait Innovations in Glenview. I also had his picture taken there when he was 2 1/2 weeks....we did his pictures as well as my daughter's 3 year pics and family pics at the same time. Both times, the pictures turned out beautiful. I had the same photographer, Amber, both times. AS a previous poster mentioned, they take lots of great shots and you fall in love with them all so you do spend alot (I spent $150) but my friend went to Target, was not pleased and it cost her $150!! I went to P.I based on recommendations from 3 co-workers who were all very pleased with their pictures.

Good Luck!

I have mostly used Penneys, and had some great experiences there, but also a pretty disappointing one (for my 2nd daughter's 3 month photos, we had a photographer that didn't know what to do with a baby). It REALLY depends on the photographer more than the place. If you find a photographer you like, get his/her name and request them again. For my daughter's recent 6 month photos, we tried Kiddie Kandids because I wanted something different (all of my pictures from Penneys were starting to look the same), and someone who knew how to photograph a baby! Her 6 month pics are adorable!!! I loved the backgrounds and props at KK, and we had a great photographer. I bought a summer special package which I thought was a pretty good deal, but I think their reg. prices are high compared to Penneys. I LOVED walking out the door with my photos and a CD in hand- I HATE waiting 2 weeks for them at Penneys! Have fun- getting portraits done is one of my favorite times- they can be so cute! To me, paying a bit extra is worth getting great shots.

For our son's 3month pictures we went to Flash Digital Photography in Northbrook. The pictures are great, but it was a bit expensive. The inexpensive route we have used for Christmas pictures and since is the studio at Target in Rosemont. My son, who was 18 months at the time, would not sit for the session and the photographer was very patient with us. Hope this helps.

We used Portrait Innovations in Glenview about a year ago and got a family pose and poses of our kids. They had a really great deal at the time.... maybe they still do. But... they took additional shots and they all turned out great... so we wound up buying a lot thus spending a lot. The guy who took the pictures was great... like I said there were many great shots taken. I would recommend them... at least the photographer we had. I can't remember his name. They give you a disc of all the poses too.

Don't do Kiddie Kandis...they are so expensive. I go to J.C.Penny and they are so affordable, professional and the pictures are GREAT. They take as many as you want, upload them in about 10 minutes and you can take your time to browse them on a computer there and select what you want and decide the size, qty, extras the whole shabang. They also have a kiddie area with a t.v. that has kid friendly movies playing. They leave your file open for a month so you can add on to your order too. I did Kiddie Kandis and paid 50 bucks for 3 sheets and J.C.P. usually charges $3.99 a sheet and they are better looking too. You can go to their site and get coupons but they usually are running the same promo with or with out the coupon.
